TF2 gets "largest update" ever today

New map Badlands, optimisations and new iterations of Dustbowl, Granary and CTF_Well out 7pm - but only for PC
What Valve is calling the "largest update" to date for Team Fortress 2 on PC should be ready to surge down your Steam pipe at 7pm tonight.

The update includes new map Badlands - a revamped version of the map TFC players will be familiar with - general optimisations and new iterations of Dustbowl, Granary and CTF_Well maps that have been tweaked for "for enhanced performance and gameplay".

Cue bullet-point list...

  • The free update includes global optimizations for networking, graphics, and player statistics, plus improvements to Source TV for tournament viewing.
  • In addition, three of the currently available maps (Dustbowl, Granary, CTF_Well) have been iterated for enhanced performance and gameplay.
  • The release is headlined by the introduction of Badlands, a new map that pushes control-point gameplay onto vertical landscapes.

Should you want the complete breakdown of the update, you can get that on Steamgames.com.

Nice one, Valve. My 360 copy of Orange Box, which arbitrarliy costs about £15 more than the PC version, can go without can it? Thanks for that!

That's £15 you've coughed up for MS, not for Valve. An open platform like the PC also doesn't need any extra Sony/MS/Ninty certification stuff for every patch/update.

Blame Microsoft. No doubt their red tape has prevented this being released for 360 yet (& even when it is, you'll no doubt have to pay for it) Rolling Eyes.

Probably more to do with the fact that TF2 has never really taken off on 360, it's barely been in the top 10 Live games since it's release.

Most people including myself moved onto Call of Duty 4 when that was released, and it seems very few looked back.

is ot just me or has every 1 for got the major fact that half life and all of valvs products was made for a pc and ported i repeat ported to console meaning the pc will be the number 1 choice for the developers and the ported objects can cach up later
