Shigeru Miyamoto has said that Wii Fit isn't really meant to make you fit (like the title suggests). It won't give you a six pack or help you finish the London marathon. He says it's only going to make you more aware of your body. And that's a good thing.
Speaking to Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata about the ideas surrounding the creation of Wii Fit, Miyamoto said, "I think it's important to make discoveries like this about yourself. I forgot to mention something important earlier: I don't think Wii Fit's purpose is to make you fit; what it's actually aiming to do is make you aware of your body.
"That's why we wanted people to talk with their families about Wii Fit, and become aware of these things together as a group. If you're standing still, and it tells you 'Your body is swaying', you can see on the training results screen that your body has been shaking. But I think you'd never realize that your body is shaking in day-to-day life. I think becoming aware of things like this about yourself is quite interesting."
Of course. And nobody would have seen the word "Fit" and thought it could actually mean "fit", right?
Sounds like backpedalling because someone has said that the activities don't make you do enough exercise to actually in crease fitness and they want to avoid a lawsuit.
well, yeah, I mean take the average gamer, who gets little to no exercise, and put them in a situation where they play a game that makes them do moderate exercises on a regular basis. This will surely improve the person's fitness levels, and possibly reduce weight.
The problem with most unfit people is that they do no exercise at all. A person who exercises once in a while is already on a track to being fit and is working to take care of their body.
Most people in the working world are too busy to dedicate time to going to a gym, or do exercises at home. We all have the intention of doing it, but life gets in the way. With combining gaming and fitness, it'll be sort of an excuse to exercise. Face it, most people don't like to exercise because it's boring. Wii Fit has focused on bringing entertainment to fitness and fitness to entertainment.
