KOTOR 3: Don't jump to wrong conclusion, says EA

Slide shown to analysts does not specifically address future sequels
EA has responded to reports speculating on the existence of a BioWare-developed third game in the KOTOR series, essentially saying 'don't get excited'.

Hopes that a new Star Wars RPG title is in the pipeline were raised by a slide shown by EA CEO John Riccitiello to analysts that listed newly-owned BioWare attached to Mass Effect, KOTOR, Dragon Age and 'New MMO'.

In response, EA has now told Shacknews, "The slide in John's presentation is titled 'Best Creative Talent' - it addresses future and past titles.

"KOTOR, Black, Boogie, Skate and some other titles on the slide speak to past portfolio releases and the pedigree of the studio but do not specifically address future sequels."

Fair enough, but if KOTOR 3 isn't announced in the future - which would surely actually be done by LucasArts anyway - we'll eat our replica lightsabers.

I don't really think the series needs a third, I was really disappointed by the second one, and actually stopped playing it, the first was good enough, can't we just leave it at that?

Ha ha knowing EA they'll make KOTOR into a yearly franchise. Roll on Knights Of The Old Republic 2009 turbo edition.

It wouldn't surprise me if Lucasarts choose an entirely new developer to handle KOTOR now that Bioware has been asymilated into the EA collective.

I agree that the second wasn't as good as the first but I still really enjoyed it.

I would love a third, just hope we get one.

Dont get excited?

Its been over a decade since I was excited at the prospect of EA creating something !!

Thankfully, they don't own the rights.

Lucasarts has the potential to be a really powerful independent developer actually, especially since the chances of them being bought out are zero.

Please... KOTOR 3 not Jade Empire!

Hell no! The first was awesome, the second even more so, but now they need to wrap up the story entirely! One of the major complaints about KotOR II was the lack of satisfying ending. No way can they leave it the way it is.

Bloody hell! This is horrible news if it turns out that BioWare aren't in production of number three...

They are cracking games and a damn relief to play considering all the RPG crap out there filled with orcs and elves!

They used ot be, didn't they? I seem to recall a fair few Lucasarts games coming out on the Spectrum way back when. One set in a factory was expecially good - not that I recall what it was called now...

As i said in the thread that announced this story there would no chance that EA would allow Bioware to create a game for a rival publisher, Lucas arts has the Kotor license and that wont change.

If LA go it alone on KOTOR 3 you can pretty much count PC out as a platform for release
