The first Xbox 360 details on Valve and Turtle Rock's zombie shooter Left 4 Dead have emerged in the pages of the US Official Xbox Magazine.
Apparently, this is the first time the Xbox 360 version has been shown to the press, which is being developed between Valve, PC dev Turtle Rock and newcomer Certain Affinity - who was responsible for the Halo 2 Blastacular map pack.
According to OXM the console version still has a way to go before it matches the state of the PC build, as only that version was playable because the 360 edition is "too overbalanced" at current.
The Xbox 360 version is set to feature four-player co-op and eight-player, four-on-four Versus matches via Xbox Live or System Link. But as for a splitscreen mode, Valve's Doug Lombardi says, "that's the most relevant question that we can't answer for you today."
Unfortunately for PS3 owners, it looks like the multiplayer shooter's sticking to Microsoft platforms for the time being. "The PC and 360 versions of Left 4 Dead will ship simultaneously, but there will be no PS3 edition," says OXM (that's the US one).
Grand stuff, let the 360 have it as long as the simultaneous release doesn't hold back the PC version which I assume is closer to being ready.
I'm a PS3 user (have a 360 as well but not for gaming - I only use it for HD DVD) and I don't care that PS3 isn't getting it. PC all the way for games like this. Can't be bothered struggling with Xbox Live's crappy P2P service, spending half an hour selecting servers until finally I might get into one if I'm lucky.
But yeah... bring on the PC version! Besides GTA4, this is my most anticipated game of the year.
Sweet, looking 4ward to getting this looks awesome......(cue, the PS3 fanboys saying "im not bothered this looked s**t anyway!"
I'll be honest it looks good; don't own a 360 but do own a ps3.
The only negative thing I will say is why so many FPS. How many do people actually want?
With Halo, Call of Duty, Orange Box etc... is there room for another one on the 360.
If they confirmed splt screen for it I would be more interested but it's not a reason to buy a 360.
This is very different to those games, and isn't your run of the mill FPS. The previews for this game are extremely encouraging and I'm definitely looking forward to this one.
Another game, another 360 console exclusive(the pc is not a console). Come on Sony, convince me i should walk away from the 360 by actually having some quality exclusive games. Hell, any decent games will do when it comes to the ps3(and i'm not talking about heavingly sword here, it was rubbish)
It may turn out to be pants so i'm not going to get too excited about it yet. And as for PS3 versus 360, i really could not give a monkeys'. These fanboy wars are really tiresome, i mean who cares? (360 owner)
This is the reason why I got a 360, can't be bothered hanging around for a poor selection of games for my PS3, bar MGS4 and a few others there's no real exclusive content to speak of. The blu-ray machine still only gets switched on to watch movies!
I am a PS3 owner and it is a shame I can't play it on my PS3. Oh well I will just pick it up for the PC
I don't get why you'd even want to play it on PS3 if you have the choice of PC. Actually, I know what you'll say - HDTV, sitting on couch and all that jazz. Well I'll be playing this on my PC lying on my BED playing on my 74" (or something stupid) projector screen with a bluetooth mouse & keyboard.
This games gonna be ace - more zombie games equals more of my cash being parted with Now an official announcement on Dead Rising 2, and Resident Evil 5 coming this side of Christmas and I'll literally explode...

Haven't seen too much of this game but from I have seen and read it sounds pretty cool. As for it being 360 exclusive, well I'm pretty sure the deciding factor is that the Source engine runs like crap on PS3. That has to be the case as a lesser known FPS like this could have been a fairly big hit on PS3 due to the lack of quality FPS titles to choose from whereas 360 is swimming in them.
Not exactly a body blow for the PS3 but not good news. Valve have have been making a lot of nosies about how difficult it is to develop for the PS3 so this was expected. On the other hand, the Xbox360 has far too many FPS type games and the PS3 is going the same way. Where's all the imagination, thought and design programmers used to show? This looks good but its just Far Cry with zombies. Valve have some brilliant games available on Stream that would easily convert over the the Xbox. After all they use the Half Life 2 engine. Convert them over and sell them for Ł20 and give us some variety rather than the shoot, kill, explore and shoot some more bores.

I'm really looking forward to this game, I think anything with Zombies and a CO-OP is exactly what I have wanted from games like Dead Rising and Resident Evil for years.... they are only half as scary with a friend
Who the bloody hell is the girl in your moving picture thing... with the huge looking melons???
It does look good but just remember it's probably being developed on a PC and has yet to be converted to the Xbox360. I wish developers would start stating what machine is running the demos they are recording.
