PreviousWii Fit dated: UK on April 25 New look at Worms: A Space Oddity  Next

Nintendo denies June 6 Brawl date

"Pure rumour and speculation." But we've got some new screens to make up for it
Those Super Smash Bros. Brawl UK fans who held their breath all this morning can breathe in a mouthful of disappointment. Reports that Brawl will launch on June 6 are false.

The internet had said that Nintendo had confirmed the game would hit shelves in early June, but Nintendo UK told us that, "This is pure rumour and speculation - no announcement has been made."

That does open up the question though, when exactly do you plan to release Smash Bros, Nintendo?

With Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit already dated for April in the UK, there's a fair bet we'll be firing blue shells and playing with virtual hula-hoops long before we get to smash Mario's face in with one of Sonic's razor-sharp spikes.

So, in an effort to make this a worthy news post, who would win in that contest, Sega and Nintendo fanboys? Answers below.

I haven't even bothered to read this story, I just want CVG to get these awful Terminator adverts under control!

Any advert that scrolls down the page with you, covering the text that you want to read AND being impossible to close for a good 10 seconds while it goes through a sh1tty animation is massively annoying - SORT IT OUT!

Agreed - C&VGs adverts have been getting more and more obtrusive of late (remember the Turning Point one?). Not to mention an advert yesterday which seemed to be handing out a virus... Lovely.

The fact the Mario Kart will not only be out before Brawl, but a LONG while before Brawl is a disgrace... Ninty, sort your f**king Euro release dates will you.

i want brawl!

Pathetic, utterly pathetic. The only way Nintendo can win me over now is if it comes out earlier than that date. I don't want Mario Kart, it is not a substitute. It's taken six years to get a new Smash Bros.!

Also, I agree with everyone who complained about that stupid ad. As if CVG doesn't have enough already.

I immediately thought they meant it would be coming out before then

Maybe I'm wrong Sad

June 6th would have been another poor showing from Nintendo anyway, but to deny that date too would suggest an even longer delay.

The worst part is no amount of complaining at Nintendo's frankly terrible treatment of Europe will ever change anything.

not being funny i agree about brawl and how badly they have treated us, but we are getting mario kart and wii fit before america, this is pretty much unheard of. so it must say something.

If it's not June 6th it's got to be earlier, especially considering how much longer it was in development compared to Mario Kart
