Ice Cavern

Final Fantasy IX

As you make your way through the Ice Cavern there are lots of chests to open. You'll be attacked by Wyerds who are vulnerable to Fire magic, as well as Flans and Cave Imps. The Imps tend to use Sleep so use a mild physical attack on the party members to wake them up.As you move through the Cavern use Vivi to melt various ice structures. When Vivi melts a stalactite make sure you walk along the new ledge and get the Mage Masher from the chest. Zidane should equip this weapon to beat the next boss. Continue onwards and pick up Ether and a Phoenix PinionGo left and have Vivi melt the ice wall. Keep going and pick up the Leather Wrist. Now go back and take the right hand fork. At the next screen you must go left, not right. You'll find a frozen Moogle called Mois.Thaw Mois out and use him to save and pitch your tent. Take the Mognet letter that he gives you. Now you can go right! After the whole party collapses with exhaustion Zidane goes exploring on his own. Go right and he'll come face to face with Black Waltz Number 1.The Black Mage conjures up a monster pet called Ice Giant Sealion. Ignore it for now and just concentrate on the Mage. Physical attacks work well, particularly if Zidane has the Mage Masher equipped. Use Steal to get the Mythril Dagger. When the Mage is dead turn your attention to Sealion.After battering Sealion go back and collect your party members, then return to Mois Moogle and save. Now head right and climb up to the top of the Ice Cavern. Emerge at Nolrian Heights and watch as Princess Garnet decides to change her name to Dagger.
