Resident Evil 0 confirmed as Japan Wii exclusive

Capcom confirms a Wii port of Resi 0 is in the works, but it's for Japan only
Capcom has told us it has no plans to release Resident Evil Zero for Wii anywhere near American or European shores.

For the immediate future at least, it appears that the port of the GameCube prequel will only appear in its native country of Japan. So all you Resident Evil die-hards better get ready to do some importing.

As we reported yesterday, the latest issue of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu confirmed that a version of Resident Evil Zero was in the works for the Wii. The report added that the port would only use the Wii Remote.

Capcom has told us that the port is indeed happening. But that it's only planned for release in Japan. Gutted or don't you really care? Sound off below.

Hmmmm, definately come under the 'don't really care' category! resi 4 was perfect for a Wii port thanks to its over the shoulder view and precision aiming requirements....resi 0 is all old school resident evil action where shooting consits pretty much of high, low or mid level shots! Ok, so teh game ain't half bad, but I dont think the inclusion of Wii specific controls is really going to bring much to the title! Seriously, don't be getting upset, just by the Gamecube version for a few quid on ebay instead! Personally, I would be more worried about the lack of resi 5 on Wii! Now that is something to get your knickers in a twist over!

Cant say im bothered either, resi 5 on the wii would surely have been a different game anyhow due to its outdated hardware.

Yeah, resi 5 wouldn't look the same for sure, but from what I have seen, resi 5 does not look like a huge departure from Resi 4 in terms of gameplay! Even with Resi 4 quality graphics (which still lok great today) Resi 5 would surely be a welcome addition to the Wii's, shall we say, somewhat suspect catalogue of games!

I'm happy with my GC copy so I'm not that fussed about it being Japan only.
bizbaz45 on 28 Feb '08
Agree with Liam, it would be like a step backwards after the great Resi 4 and even Umbrella Chronicles which suited the Wii remote. So why would you go back to fixed cameras and pre-rendered backgrounds? and if you did want to, surely you'd pick up the Game Cube version for some old skool Resi action.

I doubt this would have sold well here or in the US, and I'm quite sure most people won't be bothered it's a Jap exclusive.

I'm not too fussed about Resi 5 either, we would have got the poor mans version and everyone would be laughing at Wii owners all the more. I'd much rather have Wii exclusives that make PS3/360 owners think... yeah I wouldn't mind playing that! Chronicles was a good start, as a Resi fan those without a Wii are missing out on some of the series stories and events!

Personally I'd like to see Capcom do a proper re-make but using Resi 4's engine, and pushing it even more to get better visuals from the Wii Imagine Resi 0 or Resi 2 being played from an over the sholder view, with true 3D environments etc.

Oh such a shame, missing out on a(nother) last-gen port.
Wozzakl on 28 Feb '08
Dang. Oh well, make sure you NGamer chaps import review it so we know what we re missing (If anything) okay? Wink

who bloody cares.
Sinthetic on 28 Feb '08
Such a shame Rolling Eyes . Not really, I couldn't care less and I wasn't going to buy it anyway.

Enough of the last-gen ports!! Please develop a new Resident Evil game in the style of Resi 4 (and not resident evil 5, I agree with eclipse DJ, we would be getting an "inferior" version...)
mooksam22 on 28 Feb '08
resi 0 was one of my best resident evil's and it is a shame we will miss out on this... however the cube version works perfect on the wii and more than likely will have better controls. if there was more to the game other than a straight port i would be tempted to import
davidhough69 on 28 Feb '08
I sence it'll be a stright port probly with an extra mode but then again as ppl have said it's probly cheaper and better to find the GC copy and grab a pad if you don't already own one.

Ports from other formats ok, but ports from a format that the console is already compatable with, waste of time IMO
kremlik on 28 Feb '08
I would love to see a Wii specific Resi with motion based puzzles and combat.

I must admit for all the positives I found Resident Evil 4 to lack many of the qualities and atmosphere contained within the series. It was too action heavy.

mmm from the interview i read, he said he had no plan atm, but it was mostly that some D*$k heads said stuff like capcom sucks and so on cause of remaking the game. far out let them do it!! people like me never played 0 2 and 3 i have one on GC, and 4 oh and UC, instead of complaining, give em ideas like make RE0 with RE4 controls, or if u don't like it at all, shut up! cause if u won't play it others will. i hope they rethink and please make it worldwide, i really wanna play it and don't wanna be forced to get a preowned one. i hope they give all RE the same treatment, so i can have the whole collection!! Very HappyVery Happy please capcom? after u've got us in the mood for those, give us some RE5 love please? oh and a Megaman X game to go with it!!! Very Happy
Andrezao on 28 Feb '08
