Those stingy enough to refuse buying Valve's Orange Box for all five of its games can reclaim some of their street cred next month, when the bargain package is split three ways.
Team Fortress 2, Portal and the Half-Life 2: Episode Pack will go on sale on April 9. According to Valve this is a worldwide release, although UK retailers are to list either of the games for pre-order.
Pricing for the US (according to retailers) will be $19.99 for Portal and $29.99 for the other two. Presuming this translates to £10 and £20 (which it won't) it's still a bit steep considering you can pick up Orange Box PC for £25.
Still, the few who found the idea of re-buying Half-Life 2 with Portal disgusting, will now be pleased. The moany gits.
Persoanlly I'm glad I got the full Orange Box. I had already played and completed HL2 and Ep1 but I enjoyed playing them again with the added graphical enhancements like the Hdr in HL2 and proper dynamic lighting. I'm more of a console gamer anyway so am glad I have the whole series on console so far.
The Orange Box is the best value game in a long time. You can't go wrong with it!!

Thirded?? lol
Half life 2 is one of the best games I have ever played, thus, The Orange Box is one of the best value boxsets I have ever had the pleasure of purchasing. Anyone who has not got it do so now!
i dont know why this is such a big deal. the people that want to buy the games seperately think they shouldnt be made to buy other games aswell - theyre holding out due to a dumb principal. its all down to them being idiots who cant see the value of the orange box, a bundle that costs £25, and looks to cost only £5 more than most of the games will be sold for seperately.
i bought the OB on release for the full whack price of £30 and since then ive pretty much played just one of its 5 games. i already owned HL2 so i got ep 1 and 2, portal and TF2 in the deal, but the only game ive really played is TF2, and that game is worth the whole price i paid on its own. the OB is amazing and should be appreciated in its full form, it shouldnt be split up.

Well call me a dumb idiot then. I would have of been happy to shell out £15 for Episode 2, but stubbornly refuse to pay again for Half Life 2 (on the grounds that I own it already and it is very average for 80% of the game) or Episode 1 (on the grounds I already own and it is the single worst game I own for the first 4 chapters and only chapter 5 is worth playing). I've played Portal: The First Slice and was unimpressed, the puzzles to me seemed to be so simple as to border on non-existant. Given that all 5 games are available in the Orange Box for under £25 I would be happy to buy Episode 2 on it's own for no more than £8-£9. It definately isn't on my must own listbut I keep hoping that Valve make something worthy of the first game.
Why would you want to buy these games seperatly for a higher price than buying them all less than the sum of it's parts? (ok yeah Episode 1 wasn't THAT great). It just doesn't make good accounting sense . . .
