Xbox Live to launch in Middle East soon?

Words reaches CVG of a big Microsoft announcement in Dubai next week
Word has reached CVG that a big Xbox 360 announcement will be made in the Middle East next week, which could well mean the region's introduction to Xbox Live.

We're reliably informed that invitations have been sent out for the Dubai-based event, which promises "big news" for Xbox 360 in the region.

Microsoft's console has already launched in the Middle East, though without its highly regarded online service. That's a bit like having bread without butter.

Since events and announcements are rarely ever made in the region, says our source, this could very likely mean the launch of Xbox Live in the Middle East. That means we'll have even more strangers swearing at us from foreign parts. Welcome aboard!

Microsoft UK was unavailable for comment when we picked up the phone, but we'll let you know if and when it gets back to us.

Call of Duty 4, the new playground for racial slur
plank91 on 6 Mar '08
Great, just what we need, more ragheads shouting down the microphone Sad

Half of the 360's out there are chipped anyway so hopefully they won't be able to get on live.

GOT PORK?

Not sure Call of Duty 4 would be a huge seller out there...

It would be highly amusing though.
_Marty_ on 6 Mar '08
To quote myself from before, I think the verbal would be something like "RAGHEAD 3 O'CLOCK!" "JIHAD! JIHAD! JIHAD! ALLAH WILL SMITE THE INFIDELS! JIHAD" JIHAD!" That's just an educated guess, seen as though COD4 shows Middle Easterners and terrorists.
plank91 on 6 Mar '08
Actually, COD4 shows the Americans as the terrorists. It was very subtle, but it was there. If you think about it.
Shin2k35 on 6 Mar '08
I'd rather have Middle Eastern people than Americans playing on LIVE.

Where the hell did you get that from? The game clearly shows Russians as the terrorists, the Yanks try and sort it out but mess it up and once again its the Brits who clear up the mess!

Someone raised a good point, I'd rather have Middle Easterners playing than Americans, at least then when they try to insult me I can't understand it Laughing

i live in iran too! there are many gamers in iran who have access to LIVE , but getting gold member ship is our problem & also our latency with the servers!
i hope they solve this problems!
meantime , who is the RACIST now?!
many of u are scorning Muslims! everyone has his faith and it's far of humanity to scorning someone cause of his/her faith!
I'm Muslim and have many Christian friends ( in XBox LIVE , School and my hometown ) and there is no problem!
so lets forget these religious & racial issues!
and remember : Muslim gamers are not like the Muslims that you see in TV , Films or ...! for these guys religion is separate from gaming! when they play games , The game is everything for them!

amrx36 , whats your TAG?! i wanna add u to my frinds list! ( maybe I have added you before Very Happy )

hope to see you all in LIVE...
with best regards...

Yes exactly, everything he said is true,in addition, im from KSA too, the way i see it,is that people think of us living in the desert or something, no we are not, we are just like you, we are not terrorists by the way, and we have everything you have, well except the internet connections, it sucks here.
And for god's sake read the posts, dont you think that u guys are being unreasonable and too tacky, your judging us because we are Arabs and Muslims, and we are not judging you back, we are just trying to inform you that your ideas are wrong, well i don't think i can make it more clear than i already did...

whether you believe me or not thats up to you, i just subscribed here to make my point, thats all.
thank you, i say it to all who did not say anything bad about us...
