God of War: Chains of Olympus developer, Ready At Dawn, has confirmed that the upcoming (at least it is in Europe) PSP game will be its "first and last" mark on the franchise.
Speaking on its site, the developer discussed the studio's future plans, revealing that it'll be leaving Sony's franchise - and the PSP - behind in its next project.
"Moving forward, we can confirm that Chains of Olympus will be our last PSP game," the company said, adding: "we can also confirm that this will be our first and last God of War game."
As for what's next for the developer, which also worked on the excellent Daxter on PSP, the company says it's "moving on to other projects and other ideas on other consoles," which couldn't be any vaguer.
Could we be seeing some full-on home console games from Ready at Dawn soon, then? After its long-standing relationship with Sony, our best guess can only be PS3.
Im confused I thought these guys were doing GoW 3 too. Who's doing that then?
One of the in house SCEA devs, think it may be the Santa Monica studio, but can't be sure, the ones who did the previous GOW games. Sony mearly licensed out development to them as they did with the Daxter game. Most PSP games weren't developed by the same studios who made console versions, R&C is another one.
It's a shame, they seem to be able to get a lot out of the PSP. Daxter isn't really my cup of tea but I can still recognise what they were able to achieve. Haven't got my copy of God of War yet but the demo was brilliant. Can't wait.
Best of luck to them. They did some great games (2!) for the PSP and I hope they make some more on whichever platform. I'll be sure to snap up Chains of Olympus and eventually Okami for the Wii, even though I have it for the PS2. Awesome games.
