Ubisoft and Free Radical have released a handful of new Haze shots, in the run-up to the game's re-re-confirmed release on PlayStation 3 in May.
The FPS was originally due last year, but Free Radical, at least, thinks the delay was worth it:
"While we can't explicitly say what improvements we've made (I'd love to tell you all the cool stuff we've been putting in!... but I also love my job too...), I can guarantee you that the extra bit of time has made a big difference for the better," a company staffer recently teased on the Ubisoft forums.
We'd love to say it's looking better - and we would, except it looks like someone's gone to town on these new shots with a copy of Photoshop.
The UK developer has also released a self-made studio tour video (or someone's nicked it from the Sci-Fi Channel, anyway), which admittedly is quite funny.
Those screenies look a bit too good to be true. If it looks anywhere near as good as that then I will be very pleased. I'm more pleased about the fact that they have spent the extra time on balancing the two factions ready for online. Apparently more people were playing as Mantel troops as they had the best weapons. Fairly optimistic about Haze.
Liked the look of it at first, now in truth i dont honestly care about it, looks like another average shooter. Ill wait for Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 is released instead.
doesn't look too bad. i'll definitely keep this on my radar. but truth be told, i think the fps' genre is going the way of the dodo, not too much unlike jrpgs. 3rd-person is the way to go. still, if Haze can include some sort of cover/fire-system like Rainbow Six Vegas, then i may opt to try it out.

Oh, because Rainbow 6 2 looks so much better than average? Sheesh, you talk s**te.
Not that I'm trying to sway anyone's opinion either way, but Haze looks anything but your average shooter. For one, it brings something completely new to the FPS genre...asymmetrical combat, 2 completely different skill sets for 2 completely different factions. This is going to be very interesting to see how it plays out in multiplayer combat. As for screen shots looking photoshopped, I disagree, they're not any different than the screens shots we've seen previously. Just different locales/situations. So, for me, I'm glad I've had it preordered since June of '07, and with the GT5P preorder already in place, all I have to do today is go to the store and setup my preorders for MGS4 and GTAIV and my next few months of gaming are all set.

I was going to say just that. Saying he talks s**te is a little harsh though.

Yeh, was a little harsh. Don't understand his reasoning though. R6 2 seems to me like a quick cash in on the franchise. At least Haze is a stab at establishing a new universe. If it turns out to be a playable game, like FR are renowned for, then I would say it is far from being average. He just generaly seems to diss most things, regardless of format.
To be honest i think it had a lot of steam before Christmas, a good amount of hype but the delay has really hurt it. With CoD4 doing well, UT3 out etc. the hype has just gone down, and it won't sell as well even if the delay has imporved the game greatly.
I'll still buy it though, am looking forwar to the co-op.

I think that the delay will work for it, providing the game gets a good reception from the reviewers. At least the excitement of the other fps's will have died down by then. I would'nt be suprised if Haze turned out to be a PS3 best seller. When was the last time a decent fps sold poorly?
From all I've read, the delay was a very necessary thing. There has been a bit of a backlash on it, that's for sure, but I myself, prefer delay vs. just getting it out on a certain date. Most should know by now that rushing a game out to the market only hurts the game, and the consumer in turn. If any of you have played Stalker - Shadows of Chernobyl, that had a good 3 or 4 year delay on it, and was one of the best games of 2006. Anyway, I'm sold on it, so here's to a slick new FPS.

Rainbow 6 vegas is one of my favourite games on the xbox, the online was superb, so yes i do think it looks above average.

So i guess your expecting big things from Duke Nukem Forever lol! I jest, I thoroughly agree with you mate.
BTW that vid was funny, just another reason why FR rule!
Actually I agree that the shots look VERY doctored.
Tbh I really don't see what the fuss is with this game. While the concept seemed interesting to start with it has just become yet another soldier-against-the-world shooting game with driving sections.
I saw video footage of the game on TV in January (I think it was on Bravo) and the graphics, to be totally honest, were pretty appalling. Horrendous pop up - vegetation would appear only just as you are next to it, and very short draw distance for the scenery. The voice acting was terrible, and the weapons just seemed really uninspired.
It's a shame really because the game really had potential at the start, but it's just become another average shooter.

I don't think Unreal Tournament broke any records on the PS3, and it did worse on the PC. I would name more but i don't keep up with statistics to be honest, i couldn't care less about how many a game seels as long as online is populated. Practically all of my friends list is still on CoD4 so many months after its release, and UT3 was out recently.
The hype surrounding this game was pretty decent around novermber, before Christmas, around the time of Co/D4's release, but with CoD4 and UT3 out, both of which are online, if people are playing it online still why would they need another game.
I'll no doubt pick it up since i am looking forward to co-op mode but i maintain sales would have been stronger if it was released around the hype. At the moment it is all GTA (which i think is too over-rated) and MGS. not online shooters, but it seems people seem to just be looking at the calendar until they're released.
My PS3 owning friends all are really looking forward to this game. These screens confirm its going to look awesome so its definitely on my hit list now.
I played this yesterday at the play.com event and well the graphics didn't look amazing and I asked the gentleman how much more work they have left to do on it. His answer was simply they are about 85% done and this is just a smal section and they are still improving the visuals and gameplay. The game played well though and the driving section was fun.
All in all I think when it does come out it will be above average game but not amazing.
