Martin Bandier, a top executive at the music publishing company that owns the Lennon-McCartney song writing copyrights, has said he'd be interested in a dedicated edition of Guitar Hero for the Beatles.
"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," said Bandier to the Los Angeles Times.
Traditionally, the rights to cover Beatles tracks have been notoriously hard to obtain, but copyright owner Sony/ATV Music Publishing has recently loosened its stance, allowing a number of companies to use the songs in advertisements.
Activision has yet to comment on the matter, but it'd be daft not to pursue a potentially massive opportunity like this.
i dont really like the beatles. they have only got a couple of good songs, but then, thats just my taste ay?
It's probably the way it'll be for GH now - 6 month updates, much like the Sims et al - focusing on specific bands, Aerosmith is just the start...
GH: The Beatles doesn't exactly excite me (I like them, but there are more bands that'd suit the game more that they could choose), but it'll sell like hot-cakes...
Can't say thats really a bad thing, there's very little that they can do to add to the gameplay as the model is set very well already. This way, we can pick and choose from regular content, whatever you like, you buy..
Bring on GH: Queens of the Stone Age! (Volumes 1, 2 & 3)
Great idea! Sign me up right now! Though i would prefer the Rolling Stones.
Rolling stones??
No offense mate but they are a overhyped band that had one good song - paint it black
and thats it - you cant compare them to the beatles
Oh and the Beatles aren't overhyped. The Roling Stones released some awesome tunes before Bryan jones died. The problem is everything the Stones or Jagger have done since the mid sixties has been fairly gash. The Beatles would have gone the same way with endless reunions and comeback tours had Lennon not been killed.
Anyway I'd like to see either Stone Roses, Led Zepplin, Cream or Spinal Tap get a version of GH.

Either the Beatles or the Stones would be huge sellers, so; if it's in any way possible to get the license, they'll come out.
I totally agree with the others you've mentioned - Zeppelin is the obvious one, I figure that's the one that they've always wanted.
I don't really worry about whether or not a band is my personal music taste with this - I'm not a huge Aerosmith fan, but I can see that their stuff would be fun in GH (Sweet Emotion will be superb!)
I've thought of a few others that would be a laugh, but aren't really my cup of tea to listen to:
System of a Down (well, it'd just be manic) Guns N' Roses (that's just got to happen!) Queen (obviously not stuff like 'Radio Ga Ga' - but, there's plenty in their back-catalogue to choose from) Stevie Ray Vaughan (probably very unlikely, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that loves 'Pride and Joy' - 'Scuttle Buttin' would be amazing!) AC/DC (well, that's another obvious one..)
The Clash, Pink Floyd, Oasis, The Jam, Canned Heat, Rage Against The Machine, Pantera, The Kinks, Ocean Colour Scene, The Doors, Blur, Manic Street Preachers or David Bowie.
