THQ reveals "most realistic" off-road racer "to date"

Burn up the dirt in Baja
THQ has unveiled Baja, a game that it says offers the "most realistic off-road racing experience to date".

Heading to PS3 and Xbox 360 in the summer, Baja's being handled by founding members of the MX vs. ATM team and "combines the best elements of the real-world sport with the right balance of arcade fun as it challenges players to build the ultimate off-road machine and conquer vast, unforgiving terrain."

Sounds like a riposte to Evolution Studios' PS3 burn-'em-up MotorStorm to us.

Anyway, with talk of "open-world" racing, Baja features the likes of Trophy Trucks, 4x4s and buggies and upgrade options for vehicles via hundreds of authentic parts that apparently affect how each vehicle in the game performs. Phew.

"The game's revolutionary vehicle physics deliver unprecedented life-like handling, and a support management system allows gamers to monitor and repair realistic vehicle damage as fenders fly, tires are blown, suspension is stressed and engines overheat."

Additional details and fun-packed bullet-points ideal for the back of the game box here.

Sounds good - a thinking mans off roader.

Works for me. Not been a decent realistic off-roader since Richard Burns Rally Smile

But the word "realistic" doesn't always go well with the term "arcade fun" so I'll hold off getting excited for now.
