Many games use the current gen consoles to make pretty pictures, but Fracture is "one of the few games" that really pushes the hardware on a gameplay front, LucasArts has told CVG.
Fracture features an innovative Terrain Deformation system that allows players to use various unique weapons and tools to bend, warp and deform the ground below their feet. This, says LucasArts, was a challenge to get working, and pushes the high-performance consoles to their limits.
"We are really pushing the limits of what the Xbox 360 and PS3 can do with Fracture," the developer told us.
"While a lot of games are pushing the limits of what can be done visually in games, we also wanted to push gameplay to levels that literally could not be done on the previous generation of hardware," it added.
"To put it simply, Fracture is one of the few games that really takes advantage of all of the processing power of the new consoles."
Bold words, but how will the final game measure up? Check out a preview here, and look out for the full Q&A later today.
shame its not pushing the limits of original gaming or style?.... from what i can remember of this game it looked like a very generic third person shooter, with a different gun?...

Couldn't agree with you more. There making soo much of this "original" terrain altering element but the game as a whole looks very mediocre. I can't see this selling well.
Sorry but i cant trust a company that cant make a descent Star Wars game!?... fingers crossed so tightly for Unleashed!!...they almost break!
LucasArts aren't developing Fracture, they're only publishing it. The developer is a company called Day 1 Studios, whose previous games include the MechAssault series and the console ports of F.E.A.R.
BTW a Descent/Star Wars crossover? That'd be awesome! (I think you meant "decent".)
P.S. X-Wing. Tie Fighter. Dark Forces. Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight.
i dont really understand the point of this game, its like theyve tried to think of a cool new feature and just made one that seems really pointless and no one is going to care about

Yes, but how many years ago were they published? Anyway: KOTOR 3 please.
The only they feature they mention is terrain deformation. But wasn't this a feature in Sega Rally and to a lesser extent Motorstorm?
Hardly ground breaking is it!
.....or Red Faction. You know the one where you can shoot holes through the walls etc. Unless the developer decided that they didn't want you to shoot through THAT particular wall. In which case no amount of rockets was going to get through.
mmmmm... Dosen't look any better than Mass Effect or Lost Planet, only difference is you spend half your time shooting the ground!
All seems very gimicky to me, raising and lowering the ground to progress is no more groundbreaking than the gravity gun/havoc engine found in Half Life 2 or the whole gravity/puzzle concept of Portal
