Warhammer Online: Collector's edition revealed

Art book, special miniature, graphic novel and bonus in-game content included
The Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning collector's edition will be limited to 55K units in Europe, the game's handlers GoA and EA have revealed.

It'll likely retail at 60 quid, although a UK price remains unconfirmed. It's 79.90 euros in places that use funny money. And 200 quid when they appear on eBay.

In keeping with MMO tradition, the WAR collector's edition features plenty of extra stuff, including a special Warhammer miniature, a graphic novel, art book and mouse mat.

On top of that, it comes with bonus in-game content. The Librams of Insight provides players with a 60-minute-long, +10 percent experience point modifier which is limited to three uses.

In addition, snap up the collector's edition and you'll be rewarded with 12 special bonus quests and 12 character heads to beef up options for the physical appearance of your avatar.

And on top of THAT, you get the Rittenbach's Portable Camp - a... thing that can be used to heal wounds during lulls in the violence - and a PvE orientated object called Sentinel's Amber Band if you pre-order the edition through retail or the similar Guardians' Iolite Band if you pre-order online.

Oh, and did we mention that those who pre-order get access to the open beta? Well, now we did. Pre-ordering is set to kick off this afternoon.

Is the Collectors Edition on game.co.uk actually this RRP £60 version? I can't believe it's £20 less on game.co.uk!

Pre-ordered anyway, just in case. Wink

The Pre-order CE form GAME is NOT the full package. Its all got a little confusing, but here's an update from IainC, who works for GOA who handle the europe distribution:
Ok, I've just had a word with our marketing people here and the confusion seems to stem from some cross comunication between our distributors and the retailers.

Here's how it works:
There is a collector's edition which has the miniature, graphic novel, artbook etc in it.
There is a regular edition which has the game.

You can preorder either of those versions in the normal way from practically any gamestore or webmerchant and you'll get it sent to you for release in the usual way.

In addition we are offering a special pre-order bonus set which includes the open beta access, the headstart on live servers and so forth. That applies to either edition of the game - it isn't limited to just the collector's edition. It is limited however to our specific pre-order partners. In the UK, it's Play.com and HMV. The Play.com link was removed last night because it was inaccurate, the HMV link will be coming as soon as they update their site to include it.

The correct link for Play is this one and our marketing team are checking with the distributors and the retailers today to ensure that all the other links are up to date and to try and sort otu the confusion that seems to have occurred.

Some sites are offering the pre-order for 8 euro/5 pounds. What that means is that you will pay that amount in advance for the pre-order kit and then the balance for whichever version of the game you buy when it is released. You aren't paying extra for a pre-order.

Hopefully that clears up most of the queries.

ted1138 on 27 Mar '08
Oh wait, I see now, you can get the CE version from GAME.com for £39.99, or you can pay £20 more at PLAY.com or HMV.co.uk and get onto the open Beta. Makes loads of sense that. Rolling Eyes
