Haze gets (proper) release date

May 22 is the date for Free Radical's PlayStation 3 sci-fi shooter
Ubisoft and Free Radical (well, mainly Ubisoft) have nailed down the release date for PS3 exclusive FPS Haze, which will now be sitting on game shops' release lists next to the words 'May 22', which is still a bit too close to MGS4 for comfort.

Previously the game was down for simply a 'May' release, after being delayed from its original launch slot last Christmas. The Timesplitters dev promises the extra construction time has made a "big difference for the better."

Recently The UK developer released a self-made studio tour video (or someone's nicked it from the Sci-Fi Channel, anyway), which admittedly is quite funny.

Update: Ubisoft has since pulled the May 22 release date and changed it back to simply "May". Hmmm. "Confirmation of the release date soon," apparently.

its not the fact that it'll be too close to mgs4 that'll be haze's biggest problem. the fact that it looks really shoddy will be the heaviest contributing factor to poor sales.
i might be wrong, the developers may very well have tightened things up since its multiple showings on gamer tv, but i wouldnt place money on it.

Can't be any worse than spending Ł40+ on R6 Vegas2! What a load of bobbins! Poor (a lot worse than V1) 1 player game and broken multiplayer. Did'nt stop that game from getting to no.1 in the charts. Mad

Personally I am looking forward to Haze. 22nd May gives me just enough time to get through GTA4 and fills in the gap towards MGS4 nicely. Smile

How people can slag a game off before it even gets a review is mind boggling. Come on Free Rad! Very Happy

R6V2 could have done with a slippage.

I think it is safe to assume Haze is coming out 22nd May, sarcypants. Wink And all the better for it.

Being serious though, I hope you're right about it being good.
I thought the game held some real promise at first, just got bored of waiting & feel a bit meh towards it now.
But, what excites me the most is that its a FPS game that has local multiplayer & bots! Yay! About bloody time

dont get me wrong, haze's premise has great promise for an awesome fps. a year ago i couldnt wait for it and thought it would be the dogs boolax. the first gamer tv special on haze i saw though was a shock, it looked truly rubbish.
i dont think i was slagging it off though lol. i said maybe the developers can tighten it up, i wouldnt put money on it. i shouldve added i hope they do though Smile

As I've said before on another messeage link, it is Free rad (TS) doing this so I have hope for this. A good control system and core gameplay would make up for average graphics as long as the frame rate is smooth.

I don't think telly programs devoted to gaming are all that trustworthy, just look how Rapture and Xleague failed.

A crying shame Crying or Very sad .

yeh gamer tv's reviews are a bit iffy, so i dont go by what they say. i was basing my opinion of the ingame footage they were showing.
the AI was rubbish, explosions and physics looked like a ps1 game. the framerate was awful. like i said, the whole thing just looked shoddy.
you're right about xleague, it gives gamers a bad name lol. have you seen the guests they have on? Rolling Eyes

Come on Shocked . They had Mike! and that teletext guy.

Perhaps I ought to reassess my standards.

Mike was still cool...

Oh no not a dodgy frame rate 'boilhawk', tell me aint so...

well you never know the final code may be improved, becuase these guys made timesplitters. it would let down the name of 'the monkey with the gun'. Smile

Meh, haze had a time to shine and missed it, looks more and more average everytime i see it, as for R6V2, that is a great game and the multiplayer is only broken if you play it on the ps3, works fine on the 360.
DAEDALUS79 on 27 Mar '08
^^ true, shame the 360 version sometimes suffers with horrible lag Confused

anyway, i played haze at play.com live the other week, my thoughts? just another shooter Rolling Eyes.

The 360 version must have a different single player to the ps3 version as well. Miserable. Confused

No i was not being sarcastic bolihawk. I was/am looking forward to Haze. Could it be a long wait for Time Splitters 4.
