The Witcher spin-off revealed

Free, web-based battle game currently in closed beta
Not one to sit on its laurels, The Witcher developer CD Projekt has revealed a spin-off game from its RPG - say hello to The Witcher: DuelMail.

The Witcher: DuelMail is described as a next-gen web browser game that'll be completely free to play when launches. Two players digitally represented as one of three character classes battle it out, essentially, with victory rewarding a fighter with experience which leads to level gain, character development and new skills to employ in battles.

CD Projekt explains further, "Players queue up attacks, magical spells and defensive maneuvers, then send their challenges to other players, who must create their own counter sequence in hopes of being the last one standing. In order to join, the game requires only a PC with an internet connection and a web browser with Flash installed."

We're promised that DuelMail features spectacular battle visuals and effects and quality character animation. Special events and regular updates to the game are planned - the 'mail' bit apparently refers to the ability to invite mates by email to fight against you.

The Witcher: DuelMail is currently in closed beta, with the final version slated for release on May 9.

I am so fed up of people promising a 'next gen' experience. That should be standard by now...as next gen is now current gen. This is where we are at, and the standard we expect.

I prefer Blizzard's April Fools over this one.

Aye, once you've seen the quality of Blizzard's April Fool it kinda puts everything else into stark contrast...

It's just a shame Blizzard couldn't put more emphasis into the game...
