Home open beta "very soon"

So says the senior director of the PlayStation Network, Susan Panico. And you'd think she'd know
It's about time the rest of us got to take a look inside Sony's Home. We might not even wipe our feet properly, we've been made to wait that long. But the closed beta phase now looks like it's coming to an end and we might actually get a turn with the open beta.

Speaking in the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, the senior director of the PlayStation Network is quoted as saying: "We'll be opening up Home beta to the public very soon and hope to see you there."

We wish we had more than that, but we don't. We'll get on the blower to Sony as soon as it gets to work but we know we'll only get something along the lines of "we haven't announced our plans for the Home open beta yet." And we'll say something like, "we know, that's why we're calling." It never works though...

But you never know, it can't be too far off now can it? Can it?

Precisely, considering that the final version was meant to come out last November (or whenever it was) I can't believe that they are only now planning a public beta. I also suspect that the "very soon" qoute is a load of b******s and that it will be quite a wait yet...although I hope I am proved wrong!

Should be VERY soon...

Maybe its gonna be just after the PSN store overhaul...they're not going to be updating it for two weeks when it starts and they say something about a 'special update mid-April' on the official playstation website .

I get annoyed when I have to wait but I'd rather they spend more time perfecting it than releasing it with all sorts of bugs and problems. Saying that, hurry up already! Very Happy

I dont understand.

I thought a "beta" was for special members to test.

Whats an open beta for the public if not the real thing then?

Forgive my stupidity

The yanks have been trying out a beta for what seems like ages now, its about time us europeans got a go.

I think the public beta test is a good idea sony have gotta make sure that the servers can handle LOADS of peoples on at once.
cheezze on 3 Apr '08
If it's still in beta then surely it's going to be another few months at least yet.

No way is that going to be ready mid-April

http://news.spong.com/article/15138/PS3_Home_-_Public_Beta_Coming_Very_Soon

the guys on here have a longer quote from the 'supposed' article, im pretty much of the decision this scan of the mag is a hoax as what person in their right mind would say this-
"Home allows people to strategize, launch into games, and come back into Home to talk about it."

dont games lobbies already do this???!!! and theyve done it for years as well, so theres no excuse for that guy saying something like that which leads me to believe its a hoax....
its gonna be a big white elephant that people will get irritated with anyway in my opinion. if you have to download this to use a fully functioning friends list then gamestation will have another pre-owned ps3 on their shelves as i dont want to be forced into using something that takes endless faffing and time just to do something simple, i just want my ps3 to play games, have a friends list that i can pull up at anytime and be able to play with my mates online and thats it.... why would you need your games console to do anything more than that??
