Producers of the new Street Fighter movie, which has now been given the subtitle 'Legend of Chun-Li', have launched a blog to tease about the latest silver screen outing for the Capcom fighter.
Weirdly, you're asked for a username and password for the blog (maybe it's broken at the moment), but a storyboard for the new film that's been released (which has been posted on Kotaku), shows Chun-Li running and getting shot at. Nice.
Unfortunately Kyle Minogue isn't in this one, but Kristen Kreuk (of Smallville fame) IS. Also starring are Michael Clark Duncan, Neal McDonough, and Taboo of Black Eyed Peas. Maybe it wouldn't have been that far-fetched to have gotten Minogue on board after all...
"The Street Fighter movie is only one of many projects Capcom has planned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Street Fighter," the company said of the flick.
"The film will be made in conjunction with Hyde Park Films, and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox for a scheduled 2009 worldwide release."
When I heard of this, I weren't impressed. I'm still not! The chances are this will be americanised to within an inch of its life, and be pants because of that very reason. What are the chances the martial arts will be any good? Very slim when you try and train actors/actresses up in a short amount of time. It's going to look s**t in comparison to recent real martial art films.
I loved the Manga cartoon and still think it has some of the best fight scenes in any movie to date why don't they just get them to make Streetfighter 3 the last thing we need is another S#it based on the game film. They may as well get Kylie and van damme in it no one will want to watch it anyway.
Dammit, have Capcom learned nothing from Uwe Boll?! Apart from anything else, beat 'em ups have NO STORY, or at most a rudimentary narrative to give characters a reason to fight each other. A pointless film that WILL be s**t.
