The exec producer of Take-Two's big boxing game, Don King Presents Prizefighter has held no punches against his EA rivals, dealing out blows for each of its competing fighting games.
Speaking to CVG, 2K man Matthew Seymour called EA's highly praised Fight Night "mostly beautiful... and that's about it," while upcoming boxer Facebreaker was criticised for being a one trick pony.
"I don't know how many times you can see a face change when you hit it," he said. "It kind of reminds me of dropping a watermelon off a ten story building; you kind of do it once and say, 'oh, that's cool'.
"And obviously it doesn't really have any deep story - it has these characters that have personalities but I doubt there's going to be any real deep, immersive story like we have in Prizefighter."
Commenting on the demise of EA Chicago, the studio behind the Fight Night series, Seymour says, "it meant that Fight Night Round 4 was delayed, but they only come out every couple of years."
"They did some weird things there," he continued. "They made some big mistakes in regards to Def Jam Icon they did out of Chicago. They took it away from the guys who did all the wrestling games and the fight mechanics sucked - especially grappling.
"Chicago took it themselves and kind of dropped the ball on it," he said.
"The story is a head scratcher too when you've got a street fighting game and you're a... music producer? I mean... what? Here you're a fighter and you've got media opportunities. In Def Jam you're a street fighter, but in between kicking ass I'm laying down some tracks and trying to be a big producer... what the hell were you guys smoking when you came up with that?!"
You'd think all the EA bashing could turn out to be horribly ironic, if the super-publisher's Take-Two take over bid goes ahead and Prizefighter enters the EA house. Is Seymour worried? "Oh no, you can't worry about stuff like that. It's just the big boys playing chess."
"I could see that maybe going with somebody else would be more advantageous," he said.
go to hell EA. anyone with half a brain knows what you're up to and hates you for it. now get the hell out of the industry and stop trying to ruin things for everyone
I'm wondering if him slagging off EA like that is for the benefit of T2 shareholders. If he points out mistakes they've made the shareholders may be more reluctant to consider any offer.
And as for his final comment? "Another offer"? There's not that many who can afford it. Activision maybe? Is he hinting that they want a bidding war to break out?

Totally agree, ICON was a complete mess... should have left it to AKI lads!
