Prizefighter gets Balance Board workout

Balance Board training modes in 2K's fighter are devised by "top boxing trainers"
In a boxing ring-held press event earlier this month (no really, it was in a boxing ring), 2K revealed the unique features of Don King Presents Prizefighter on Wii, which will make use of the Wii Fit Balance Board.

The Venom Games-developed fighter (they're the blokes who did the excellent Rocky games) will make use of the Balance Board for Wii Fit-style training modes, devised by "top boxing trainers".

"Stuff like the jump rope game we have, you can be on the Balance Board and have the Wii Remote in your back pocket," exec producer Matthew Seymour told CVG. "We have top boxing trainers putting together a workout routine, and using the BMI indicators that Nintendo put out you can actually get a boxing workout using Wii Prizefighter.

Will you actually get as fit as Tyson, though? "You'll get pretty damn fit, yeah," says Seymour. "It's a workout - even the silly Wii Sports one is a workout. We intend to give you a real one with the Balance Board."

Prizefighter on Wii is out later this year. Read the full interview with exec producer Matthew Seymour here.

Very good news! The more devs who want to use the balance board the less likely I am to be p**sed at paying Ł70 for Wii Fit.

Excellent Rocky games? Maybe I missed something but I don't recall any of them being close to excellence. Rolling Eyes

Doesn't sound like my kind of game, but I'm really glad that 3rd parties are using the Balance Board. It definately makes that Ł70 I'll be shelling out on the 25th seem more worthwhile!

Awww - come on, the one on the Sega Master System was quite good.

I'll always remember the fact that you had to fail the last training in order to beat Drago (that way it'd only be 2 jabs before a hook, instead of 3)
