UPDATE The map pack's release for PS3 has now been moved to May 4 for the UK and Europe.
Dates have finally been revealed for when PS3 gamers will be able to get their mits on the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack. And it's a bit longer than the three weeks we were told to expect.
A post over on the CoD boards reads: "I have some great PS3 news for everyone! We have hammered out the details for the upcoming DLC and will be releasing the new Variety Map Pack on PS3 in North America on Thursday, April 24. In addition, We're also really excited that the Map Pack passed Sony Europe certification and will be propped on the PlayStation Network on May 1.
"To celebrate the release of both map packs we will be hosting a Double XP weekend for North America from 12:01 AM PDT on Friday, April 25 to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27. North American players will be able to play the new maps against members of the Infinity Ward team on Friday, April 25 from 5 PM to 8 PM PDT.
"We'll also be hosting another special Double XP and Play With Devs event for our worldwide / European users specifically. For our European fans, we will have a Double XP weekend beginning at 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, May 2 and concluding at 11:59 PM GMT on Sunday, May 4. You will also get a chance to play the new maps against the IW team on Friday, May 2 from 7 PM GMT to 10 PM GMT. That way you guys aren't left out due to conflicting time zones."
It's all about that Double XP weekend too. If you're new to the multiplayer game, get on it, and you'll level up like Harry Potter. Oh and the maps are awesome too; take a look at this.

same here, can't knock the game but their timing is lousy. Will be playing GTA4 and MGS Beta by then!!
you wont be playing the MGS beta for long on may 1st as thats when the beta finishes, it will be just GTA4 you will be playing. i too be busy playing GTA4 as its out the same week, but so far, no game has kept me away from CoD4, but GTA4 might be the answer.

do a few days really matter that much? i for one cant wait for the new maps and those who say they wont get them because of a few days wait will just miss out because of their pigheadedness.
the maps are crap ,ps3 owners are not missing anything i wiped them off my 360 what a waste of 800 points
So let me get this straight, you paid 800 points for them, then wiped them off, so when you go into match making now you'll be booted out of 1 in 3 games (they've now been incorporated into the main match making games) or so because you no longer have the maps you already paid for?

Not exactly sure what the problem seems to be...I have downloaded and played the new PS3 maps today (I don't live in North America )from the Playstation Store. Not a very large download and pretty cheap too!
