The current top rated Ikaruga Xbox Live Arcade player has directed a white and black laser beam of hate at the Treasure remake, calling the Arcade version "a horrible port".
The Japanese player, Gamertag Kingoro58k, put up with the port long enough to get to the number one slot, but writes on his Gamertag bio (in Japanese): "The XBLA version of Ikaruga is a horrible port. This isn't Ikaruga, this is Ikaruga LOL."
Apparently, the reason for the Ikaruga XBLA hate (according to the internet) is a number of subtle changes in the Arcade version that have pissed off the hardcore shooter players.
These are changes like different enemy placement from the Dreamcast version, and one of the boss's lasers sping round the opposite way. You can't please everyone.

Wow. So because enemies aren't where you remembered them to be, and a boss shoots in a different direction, it makes XBLA's Ikaruga horrible? I don't think so mate.

some people are never happy, he probably wanted to get on the top of the leaderboard right away, warmin up on the original so when he got thrown off by the new direction he threw a strop.
i approve of them changing it around a bit as long as is doesnt effect the overall game play and difficulty then why not? plus you gotta admit, it can only be a good thing if a die hard player like that throws diva like tantrum like this cause its f**kin hilarious for the rest of us!
Never played the original, but with all the hype surrounding this I got it on XBLA and think it's mint, to be honest. This guy's a freak though. He had to adapt slightly. Boo-hoo.

Sad thing is, the Japanese gaming public listen to idiots like this. That's why the 360 continues to fail over there...
...sad, really, considering it's the best video game console on the market. When it's not broken.
So he's moaning because sega (is it) havent released an exact port of the old game but have released a (slightly) different version. What an idiot. Most people moan for the exact opposite reason.
Treasure's Ikaruga is greatly respected in shmup communities. There are some truly dedicated players worldwide (hard-hardcore gamers) who strive for ultimate playthrough perfection and flawless chaining. I wouldn't see the in-game pattern changes having affected him, and that's borne out by his score, but moreover, given Ikaruga is held so high perhaps it's the fact that this version isn't seen as an accurate port. That's probably rankled him.
LOL my thoughts exactly. You would think having it be different from the version he WASTED so much of his life on years ago would please him. But he's mad he can't WASTE his time on an identical port? Pathetic.
The guy is sad and slightly pathetic, sure thing, but... why exactly one would apply small, trivial changes to a cult classic like Ikaruga? You're not improving it, you're not updating it, you're not even really changing it: you're just breaking the port's purity. Given Ikaruga's reputation and cult following, Treasure should have known better.
