With under two weeks to go, Rockstar has apparently confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV has finally, definitely gone gold. Thank Christ for that.
Take Two president Strauss Zelnick is being quoted as saying "Trucks are rolling next week and there will be a lot of them" at the company's annual general meeting yesterday.
The company has also opened pre-registration for the Rockstar Social Club, which will let you track your stats and compete to beat other players's records in various Rockstar games (including GTA IV, obviously).
Some of the tracking features on the Club include the LCPD Police Blotter, which keeps track of the most commonly used items, the most crime-filled areas in town and so on. They're dishing out plastic keys to the first ten to 100 percent complete the game, as well. Let us know if it's you, because it won't be us.
Sweet!, Now all i have to do is find some old coffin dodger working in Argos & convince her that GTV IV is out today!...... or have sex with her in exchange for a copy... come on man you know you would too...
I can't wait to play this game but I would howl with laughter if there was some bug in it that made it totally unplayable after all this hype, all you could do is laugh at the industry!

I am trying not to get too hyped about it TBH, after Halo 3 was destroyed by hype I don't want another game spoiled.
Halo 3 was a good game and all but it didn't come close to the hype that was generated for it (But I guess COD4 didn't help it either)
So does that mean if I break into our local GAME then I could nab myself a pre-launch copy? At least then a video game would be responsible for my criminal behaviour and I could sue Rockstar for HUGE PILES OF CASH!
It's gonna be a month til I can get my copy, but I signed up for the Social Club last night anyway.
So what, im looking forward to this game but the hype its getting would match that of Jesus christ returning.
I'm sure I read that he re-scheduled that for September-October time to avoid clashing with GTA4's release...
I'm not sure about the hype - it's a big game, it's sure to get advertised and marketed heavily...I tend to just ignore it myself - I've spent way too many years of gushing over a game in a mag knowing that it won't see the light of day for 2 years (not to mention the amount of titles that have just downright disappointed!)
Hmmm - so, if it's now getting shipped to the retailers, I wonder how long it'll take before my copy comes from shopto.net....what are the chances of this arriving before release? - any of you guys think there's any chance whatsoever?
Jesus certainly has more chance of going head to head with Saints Row 2 and Mercs 2, a fall release for him returning would definetly be the better option.
Ooh i'd be so tempted to try and sneak into the staff only side of GAME and nab a copy if it wasnt for the fact that my 360 would lock me out as soon as I loaded it up!
interesting that it has only just gone gold but there are 2 reviews from official mags on metacritic already both giving it 100%. do reviewers actually play final code these days?
Jesus set to return to earth April 28th to pick up his copy of GTA4. And the only miracle he'll be performing before hisw completed the game will be parting the see of people stood outside GAME!
