Guitar Hero IV peripheral additions include microphone

"It's not just about guitars," says Activision boss
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has said that Guitar Hero IV will be receiving extra peripherals, including a microphone.

Kotick commented on the future of the franchise in an interview with Conde Nast Portfolio magazine (according to IGN). He also mentioned that the next instalment will let players strum along with bands local to their area.

"It's not just about guitars," Kotick said. "We'll include a lot of other instruments, vocals. It will help us expand internationally. It's the first game we've had in which we can use local content and local bands."

But whether or not you'll be able to sing along with your local pub band (ho-ho) is insignificant next to the price. Will Activision undercut the £180 price point of Rock Band with Guitar Hero IV? This could get interesting.

*sigh* Its not exactly Guitar Hero anymore then is it? Just sounds like it will be Rockband Lite edition.

As long as they don't intend to rip us off to the extent that EA are planning, then count me in!

Stop....STOP!

We do not need two versions of essentially the same game!

man. its GUITAR hero. leave it that way!!

i'd rather see you guys mix it up with that fabled 'Pedal add on' or something..

i'd rather see 20 more songs on the game than a bloody drum kit and a game where half the acheivements
aren't unlockable without the expensive extras.

bleh i say.

bleh.

I dont really know what to think. Part of me wants a mic so my mrs can sing as I 'lay down some licks' without me having to fork out for Rock band, but this is Guitar hero, and thats all it should be about.

Hummm...

A microphone can't hurt, shouldn't add too much to the final price either.

My big question would be - what guitar will be packaged with this?.....Flying V, anyone?

as a lifetime drummer, the few electronic drum sets I've tried out were all a milla-second slow on response, throwing off my rhythm--I havent tried RB, but can anyone reccomend one that works?

I wouldn't mind seeing a whammy pedal add on, that could be quite interesting

I got a 3rd party guitar for Guitar Hero II, that was a Metallic Red Wireless Flying V, it was sooooo good! the buttons were more responsive, the strum bar didn't click AT ALL, the whole thing was great, but now I have to use the new Les Paul, which I don't really like tbh.

whammy? I think youmight mean Wah Wah, Whammy isn't used that much, the only times I can remember it being used was in Rage Against The Machine. Wah Wah's in everything, like Hendrix, or pornos Wink

I think you're in the wrong place.

It's understandable that Activision are now trying to keep in step with Harmonix and Rock Band - they need to remain competitive.

I actually think it's a good thing for one reason...

I feel completely and utterly shafted by Harmonix's handling of the Wii version of Rock Band (It's just the same gimped PS2 version). If GH IV does shape up to be an alternative to Rock Band, then I'd rather get Guitar Hero IV.
