Pre-orders for the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV are outstripping the Xbox 360 version by 3:1 on the website of UK supermarket Asda.
"Both titles have generated great interest on the Asda website, with strong pre-orders, and the PS3 version is selling three times that of 360, which is surprising and not in line with what we'd expect," said Asda's head of games to MCV.
Over the past two weeks, Microsoft has been aggressively promoting its console as the best way to experience Grand Theft Auto IV, producing TV spots and newspaper adverts in addition to Rockstar's own marketing blitz.
In contrast Sony has done very little. Even the GTA PS3 bundle seen all over the internet has yet to be officially confirmed.
lets face it there is nothing else on the ps3 is there and I have one .hmmmm Asda . thats news worth reporting then !! who cares anyway both sony and microsoft will do well out of it
I still expect 360 version to outsell PS3 version by a fair margin. Not that it matters. If I was an analyst I would say that 99% of people who buy GTA4 will enjoy it. I reckon I would be pretty close.

In the final analysis, I doubt there will be any massive difference in sales figures between versions and we'll all have a triple A game to play very soon. See you at the bank...
The £50 Million MS spent will be easily recouped by MS when the DLC starts, thats gonna make em a ton of cash.
The 3:1 thing is definately surprising though, but then again Asda isn't exactly a place most hardcore gamers would neccessarily go to buy GTA4, it's definately casual sales, I know a lot of people who wont even consider buying a 360 sadly the playstation brand is all powerful.
Remember also it's the US where MS will make most of their dosh...
I imagine a large percentage of 360 owners have gone for the HMV preorder with the free 1000 Microsoft points rather than ASDA. I think it's pretty safe to say that it's going to sell in vast amounts on both platforms.

Part of the problem is that MSs DLC is going to only appeal to a small number of GTA owners - I like the series, though I'm not a huge fan, but I've never got anywhere near 100% completion in any of them. I think it'll be difficult to convince many people that the new content is worth it if they never finish the original stuff.
I'm willing to bet that with the inevitable GTAIV.5 in a couple of years MS won't be willing to shell out for more exclusive DLC content.
Who knows, maybe exclusive content wasn't enough. Remember, it isn't the same as having the entire game as exclusive. The very fact the core game is available on both formats won't necessarily put people off opting for the PS3, despite M$'s aggressive marketing..
Well if my local Asda is anything to go by then they've not got a clue what they're selling when it comes to games.
My local Asda recently ditched PC games because "they weren't selling very well", which is hardly suprising when most of the stuff they had on the PC shelf was stuff like Dogz, Catz, Pippa Funnel and budget re-releases from 10 years ago like MS Combat Flight Sim 1 and Toca2 Touring Cars. Everytime I asked for a newly released PC game I was always told "Oh we've got the PS3 version"
The other thing I've noticed with my local Asda is they have racks and racks of PS2/PS3 games but very little of anything else. The 360 chart is normally empty except for older stuff and it took weeks after the release date of Bioshock for them to actually get it in store.
So I wouldn't be at all suprised if the PS3 version of GTA4 is outselling the Xbox360 version 3:1, but it's most likely down to the fact that Asda haven't ordered enough stock of the 360 version in the first place.
I've never had a problem buying a PS2/PS3 game at Asda because they seem to buy shedloads of stock for the Sony brands, but very little stock for the other consoles and PC.
Preorders at Asda are done in a funny way because they won't let you order something and then they goto the supplier for the amount of items ordered. Instead they'll know how much of a particular item they have coming into stock and you can then order from the predicted stock. So if they know they've got more PS3 GTA's coming in than 360 GTA's then they'll be more PS3 preorders.
Thats not what my local stores have been saying. Both Game and Gamestation near me have taken over 250 preorders of which about 80 are PS3 and the rest are the 360 version. So around 2:1 in the 360's favor.
This a typical CVG non-story. How about getting some facts and figures from anyone but a half-bottomd supermarket website? Where I live there isn't an Asda for miles...

I can honestly say that the only game I've ever bought from a supermarket was Endless Ocean for my girlfriend in a Morrisons (I think it was, anyway - could've been an Asda...)
Ah well, we'll all see once it's been out for a couple of weeks and the figures are released - having said that, we're hardly going to care....we'll be too busy playing it!
i suspect most asda customers that buy games from them are casual gamers who are only really aware of the PS brand. most gamers i know wouldn't buy games from supermarkets and have a more rounded view of the market, it goes to show how strong the PS brand still is.

I tend to stick with online retailers - especially for pre-orders, I've got GTA4 ordered with shopto.net and recieved confirmation that it'll be shipped on Monday.

True. I reckon the MS DLC is aimed at shifting the GTA brand away from something that people associate with Sony/Playstation. It's a long-investment rather than a short-term ploy to make cash on DLC (although they'll probably re-coup a decent chunk of that $50m at $10 a go in the states...)

I can't see the gap between consoles being that large, nearly everyone will end up owning this game at some point (over 18 of course!) and right now the 360 has a larger installed user base than the PS3, so it's simple maths that the 360 will sell more. Either way if you own a PS3 or 360 your still going to get a great game!

Where ever you go its the same old boring f**king thing 360 vs PS3!, this is better on the PS3!, that has sold more on the 360!... i cant take it anymore!!. I know I've been out spoken about things in the past & I've been dragged into the whole console war. But i cant stomach this anymore, if this is all that being a GAMING fan has boiled down to then i don't want anything more to do with it. Why aren't we all talking about the game & its features & getting excited about it, its just a constant aggressive c**k showing contest of PS3 vs 360?. A pointless argument that goes round & round, day after day.....
Why cant we just get on with enjoying gaming, this lead up to GTA IV has been sooo painful with the constant battles & one upmanship, & then once the games out!, it'll be another 3 months of PS3 is better here & 360 does that better there.... ohh who gives a f**k.... just get the game & lets all get back to the simple enjoyment of playing a game...remember that?.
In our local GAME store, PS3 Bundles dominated the entrance. The only thing I've seen from M$ is the ads for the downloadable content in mags - this is a bit misleading as it isn't going to be available for months - shouldn't both of them be marketing the actual 'core' game? Seems to be turning into a marketing exercise purely for the DLC, instead of the actual game itself.
Perhaps its all the ex-360 owners who have suffered from the RROD and have converted over to the PS3.
And yeah i had gone through about 7 x 360's before i gave up completely and went and bought a ps3.

No matter what cut of the market Asda get, they're interesting figures, it's not like they can be discreidted by saying 'well, its obvious 360 owners shop at sainsbury's...' 3:1 is quite a margin, either way those who have pre-ordered must be pretty glad
I must admit that I had a hard time trying to decide whitch platform to pre-order it on. I am getting a second PS3 soon for the living room so I was tempted to get the PS3 version so I could play either on the big screen down stairs or out of the way in the games room. Instead I plumped for the 360 special edition (bag,tin,book etc..) from HMV. £10 cheaper than most places plus free £130 voucher book plus point on the reward card. I think the extra content swung it for me.
The thing is though is that I will be a bloody work when it comes!DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!

Doubt you'll ever be free of hairpulling jealousy and one-up-manship on games websites though. Problem is, most people can only afford to get one console, and some resort to name calling to make them feel better about their choice of £300-£500 plastic box.
I do sometimes get tempted to leave the forum warzones well alone, but I keep getting tempted in by people yelling "PS3 rulz, 360 is teh suk" or "Sony kis ballz" etc. etc. I just can't bear idiots is all
Almost everyone is buying GTAIV anyway, so I don't see it really matters. The real winner will be Rockstar (or EA, as the case may be), not Sony or MS.

Just wonder how many copies of GTA4 have actually been produced for each console; i think both 360 and ps3 will sell out on launch so that will probably dictate which console sells more. Glad I pre-ordered mine as the price has gone up since then.
Play.com and Amazon, have sold out on both formats for pre order launch day and quoting may 1st for the second batch. I think that it will be fairly evens at the end of the day. I don’t think the DLC will sway the majority, I mean I am a huge GTA fan, but its not enough for me to buy a 360 for this alone. There may be one or two that this is enough to prompt sales, but in general not.
I owned a PS2 and Xbox and had Vice city/GTA III on both due to the double packs they did back then. I have done four GTA games to 100%, including SA. I just think that the “Exclusive” DLC is a for a limited time, 6-12 months and I am not a big fan of paying more for playing a game I already bought anyway.
I think that fact that no one really knows what the DLC will include is another reason why people are not so bothered at this point in time as well. The DLC is good for the Publishers though, as they make twice as much money or more from this, than they do the boxed unit (No retail costs). If the game sells well on both systems, for sure you will see PS3 DLC sooner than later, as they want to make as much money as possible from it.

My latest one (a new Elite which I bought back before xmas whilst my other one was away for repair) has been ok so far.
Great machines when they work (better gaming experience than the PS3 imo), but they are a little fragile....

Oh, sorry, does sound like back luck then mate! I bought my 360 in Liverpool, had it carted over to Ireland, kept it in a glass cupboard for the first few weeks (had no idea of RROD at this stage), moved to Munich with it, took it into work to have it used in Video Reviews where various people manhandled it, and have been to Ireland and back with it a few times, and it still works. Crazy. Can't have long left in fairness
I've bought a few games from ASDA online, they can do some pretty good deals.
I've opted for the special edition for the PS3 from HMV online (cheapest price, student discount and nectar points).
I see a few of you have done this too (from HMV), anyone know if we're likely to see it arrive next Tuesday? HMV online have a habit of taking a while to deliver things.

What kinda setup do you guys have, ready to play this? I have an OK 22inch LCD Monitor (it'll do until I get a HDTV) with a choice of a decent 5.1 surround sound system or surround sound headphones (for when the other half comes back after work and loud explosions are frowned upon). And Tuesday I've booked off, awesome. Still have to get the game though as I cancelled my pre-order but its easy enough to find it for Xbox 360 here in Munich, well, easier than in UK I'd bet anyway.

Well I own both consoles, but I know if I only owned a PS3 that GTA IV would be one of the relatively few games that I'd be planning on buying and thus would be more likely to pre-order it. I'd say that, coupled with the fact that a much higher percentage of people who bought the PS3 are core players (let's not forget that the vast majority of units were sold at launch, when it was super expensive), means it's not that surprising that pre-orders are higher. I doubt this trend will be reflected in final sales on each console.

Thats surprsing considering the amount of xbox360 advertising and the points and gamer pics being given away. Plus at the moment the PS3 has only half user base due to it arriving a year later, I still think that it will sell more on xbox 360, but I think in proportion to owners of each console I think the PS3 will sell a higher percentage of GTA4 to its consumers

Yea, true, true! Although in fairness my GF isn't quite so bad, she'll complain if I'm on like way too long, which I suppose is fair enough, but may be unavoidable with GTA IV! I just try to get my gaming in on the nights with the "best" chick TV shows.
In the grand scheme of things, I hardly think it matters what a few chavs buy at Asda. I only have a 360, and it has the best games, plus GTA IV has the extra contect PS3 won't have, so as long as I get to play the "definitive version" of GTA IV, I'm happy.

Thats not what my local stores have been saying. Both Game and Gamestation near me have taken over 250 preorders of which about 80 are PS3 and the rest are the 360 version. So around 2:1 in the 360's favor.

The problem with pre orders is there in no age limit to pre order, so companies willy wave and say who have the most pre orders but on actual launch day kids are going to go in and be refused the game, and they will shout and say "but you let me pre order it" ignore all the preorder hype until launch.

That's the prob, everyone thinks theirs is the definitive version. The version with the most Mods in my opinion is 6 months away (PC Version) but I haven't read anything on the sort of muscle needed to push and if it will run under XP or not.

I imagine a large percentage of 360 owners have gone for the HMV preorder with the free 1000 Microsoft points rather than ASDA. I think it's pretty safe to say that it's going to sell in vast amounts on both platforms.

ASDA is not the only 1, look on www.game.co.uk, the top 10 pre-orders has the PS3 special edition at No. 1, the PS3 standard edition and 360 editions are not in it , even MGS4 is in the top 10 at No. 4. i guess people dont care about the 360s exclusive content, if i had a 360, i would get them, but they are only about a couple of hours extra gameplay, the standard GTA4 will be enough in gameplay terms, like all the others.
To be honest I'll buy it for whatever console I can find it for on release day.

Nah, there's always copies lurking about in crap shops that 'don't do games' (as it were) like Woolworths and WHSmith. Navik will be alright. The other approach is to tap up your friends who have pre-ordered 3 or 4 copies just to ensure that they get a copy on release day (which they've booked off work). Buy a copy off them, they don't need 3.
Bravo, that's because they've completly sold out of it for release day. If you search the site you'll see it's 'temporarily unavailable' which is why it doesn't appear in the charts.
It's the same on Gameplay, they stopped taking order of the Special Edition on 360.
I've delved a bit deeper & found that when checking out, the people who had PS3 GTA in their basket also had chips, a copy of Heat & a bottle of Lambrini, whereas those with GTA 360 had steak, potato gratin, a fine Cabernet Sauvignon & a copy of Edge, I'm not reading anything into this though.
Well I just went into Gamestation at lunch to see how their pre-orders were doing, and they said they're maxed out on PS3 pre-orders but there's still plenty left on the 360.
Not quite sure what that means at this stage, but its quite funny to see Microsofts' huge amount of arrogance (and expenditure) come back to bite them. A fate that has befallen all console manufacturers at some point or another I suppose.

You can bet 90% of all gamers with a PS3 or an Xbox 360 will buy this game.
The factors are, more non-gamers own a PS3 due to Blu-ray and anyone who has both will buy the Xbox version.
But honestly both consoles will do great with sales on this game.
People really need to get over fanboyism and turn it into patriotism for their console. Competition is healthy and both consoles are capable. Regardless of who "wins" both are here to stay. You don't have to bash one console or another because one sells more or one sells more games.
A gamer should demand quality entertainment regardless of the platform. I hope both consoles do well and further increase the number of gamers in the world. That's a good thing for everyone.

Being a owner of both consoles I debated long and hard over which version of GTA4 to get. I was tempted to get the PS3 version, mainly because I only have a handful of PS3 games (Burnout Paradise being in last one I bought) but I decided on the 360 version of several reason:
1 - Prefer the 360 controller 2 - 1000 free gamepoints from HMV preorder 3 - Xbox Live is FAR better than PSN 4 - Exclusive DLC 5 - I have alot of friends on XBOX live than PSN
good thing about asda is that if GTA is sold out, you can always buy 8 sausage rolls for a pound, or perhaps some frozen yourshire puddings... in fact you could probably do a 2 weekly shop for the whole family in the money you would spend on GTA, thats why chavs go to asda!

Couldn't agree more, I to was not sure of what version to get, I want to get some more games for my PS3 but as you've pointed out, the controller on the 360 is much better and the multiplayer will be superior on the Xbox. PSN is rubbish compared to Live. hopefully it will improve over time.

There are some great deals out there - pity I didn't go for the free Microsoft points, wish I had now.....mind you, Zavvi were offering 3 months Live subscription with it - not a bad deal either.
pc gaming made gta what it is today? Wow I seem to remember the ps2 having the first 3d GTA when you all had top down views still. Im sure if a GTA4 pc version comes out you will need a sub 800 pound pc to run it on in 18+ months time when it to look anything like either console version so take your head out of your ass. PC has nicer gfx crysis looked awesome but it played like any normal fps game consoles at least feel unique and don't cost half as much to get to a nice spec. Only good game I EVER played on my pc is guildwars and I have tried and bought many.

If this ratio ends up being the final outcome then personally I'd be shocked. There's at least 5 million more 360's out there than PS3's and the marketing push for GTA4 has most been focused on the 360 version. Ok, GTA is seen as a PS franchaise by casual gamers, but everyone I've spoken to seems to be chatting about the 360 version... Either way, everywhere I've looked has been sold out of both the standard 360 and PS3 versions. At the end of the day, no matter what version you buy, Rockstar are laughing all the way to the bank and could possibily even break Halo 3's record for first day sales.

This did surprise me though and i know it wont be representitive of the total figure, but there will be areason 3 times more people have bought the ps3 version from Asda online than the 360, i can't say what that is. A good ps3 deal? a bad xbox deal? rrod put off? better deals elswhere? could be a lot of things. Either way, come launch day, none of this will matter anymore, not even your wives and/or girlfriends will matter, all that will matter is you, the pad and the screen infront of you. Oh and maybe that cold beer on the side.
I have been predisposed with many rather lovely women today (and Microsoft). I am late getting here thanks to the latter and they even had the nerve to leave me with a couple of UPGRADE copies of Windows Vista Business edition and then had the gall to try to get me to enter a competition to win a free 360. Presales for PS3 GTA4 > 360 in Australia. EB Games (Oz) stated "PS3 is currently in the lead” whilst Gametraders revealed "we're selling two PS3 versions for every 360 unit"
The final number of GTA4 sales does not concern me, but I'd find it interesting to see a higher PS3 attach rate to GTA4 than on the 360, considering that there are fewer PS3's currently in global circulation. 360 owners worldwide are obviously too hung up on Frogger... or perhaps a third of all those units have already gone RROD.

I know my local Gamestop in the US has had vastly more pre-orders for the Xbox version than the PS3 version.
We'll see when final sales numbers are released.
Either way it does NOT matter. Both systems are successful and neither is going away any time soon. Just enjoy whichever version you get. A quality and fun experience is what gaming is all about and I'm sure both versions will be highly enjoyable.
I have been predisposed with many rather lovely women today (and Microsoft). I am late getting here thanks to the latter and they even had the nerve to leave me with a couple of UPGRADE copies of Windows Vista Business edition and then had the gall to try to get me to enter a competition to win a free 360. Fools.
I wanted to cap off the large number of posts thus far with some additional information.
Presales for PS3 GTA4 > 360 in Australia. EB Games (Oz) stated "PS3 is currently in the lead” whilst Gametraders revealed "we're selling two PS3 versions for every 360 unit"
The final number of GTA4 sales does not concern me, but I'd find it interesting to see a higher PS3 attach rate to GTA4 than on the 360, considering that there are fewer PS3's currently in global circulation. 360 owners worldwide are obviously too hung up on Frogger... or perhaps a third of all those units have already gone RROD.
Those of you trying to make light of the information released by ASDA need to think again...
Do not discount the US market which is the largest in terms of Xbox penetration and game attachment rate for the Xbox. It would not be outrageous if US sales alone outweigh the PS3s advantage in other countries.
Either way, its a good thing the GTA experience is on both consoles. Gamers win in this case.

The number of RRODs is blown far out of proportion.
I myself have had 2 xbox 360s since release. One still works absolutely fine, one had to be sent in for a problem with the video output but was shipped and fixed for $0.
The RROD warranty coverage is $0 for shipping and fixing. This is above and beyond what most companies would offer especially considering the speed. I got my unit shipped and returned within a single business week.
The PS3 is a great console. But, so is the Xbox. This console bashing is really unproductive.

I understand. Microsoft still is not creditted for the outstanding warranty service they provide and the internal changes the Xbox has undergone that significantly reduces the chance of an RROD.
Much empathy for your mates though. That sucks. This has been a valueble lesson for the Xbox honestly.

This did surprise me though and i know it wont be representitive of the total figure, but there will be areason 3 times more people have bought the ps3 version from Asda online than the 360, i can't say what that is. A good ps3 deal? a bad xbox deal? rrod put off? better deals elswhere? could be a lot of things. Either way, come launch day, none of this will matter anymore, not even your wives and/or girlfriends will matter, all that will matter is you, the pad and the screen infront of you. Oh and maybe that cold beer on the side.
Anyways, a friend of mine who works at a Gaming store said that GTA will arrive in stores next Saturday (circa) he'll spend the weekend playing, offline of course
Well the PS3 GTA pack is official as GAME are taking preorders on it. Furthermore where I work all three local stores have taken more pre-orders for the 360 version.
I've been to my local Asda this evening as I'd run out of chips & Lambrini . The PS3 section had GTAIV boxes in at #1 with 'preorder now' emblazoned all over them, but in the 360 section, not one reference to GTAIV at all. Who's to say Sony haven't paid Asda to adopt this ignorance of the 360 version, at least untill launch day, much like they have paid Amazon to give prominence to the PS3 version? Sony are no fools in knowing who their demographic is, and where they shop.
Hey, I took a peek at this forum out of interest to see what peoples reaction would be to this story. Firstly none of this matters, because at the end of the day its exactly the same game on both formats. I know theres the DLC for 360 but only the hardcore are going to worry about that, no one else will be particularly bothered. It was previously mentioned most people dont even get close to finishing GTA which is totally true, so they are hardly going to bother wasting further money on additional content. Its hard to predict what the total sales outcome will be but generally most people do associate GTA with Playstation as its the game's spiritual home. Then again, right now there are more 360 owners in the world than PS3, so who knows?
What really inspired me to write this post is the amount of 360 zealots STILL repeatedly saying stuff like "PS3 owners will buy anything because they are starved for decent games." I am a proper gamer, I am 24 and its been my passion since the C64 days, i know what makes a decent console. I dont think anyone actually believes that PS3 owners are desperate for games. You wont find a PS3 owner anywhere who feels hard done by or starved for quality games, quite the contrary, you'll find that PS3 owners love their machine. I have all the current formats and have way more games for my PS3 than any other current system. The Xbox has some great exclusives but I still view it as my 'FPS only' console. Its got a large selection of titles but next to no diversity what so ever. This is an area where Sony and the Playstation excel. You would do well to remember that its basically down to Sony that the gaming industry is where it is today! I cant help but feel p**sed at Microsoft for going with the 'lets make the system as cheaply and quickly as possible' approach causing all these issues with storage (and consequent hardware failure). Developers are coming out left right and center saying that as a multi platform game, their title could have been so much better if the 360 had a next gen storage system and an internal hard drive because they are always having to cater to its draw backs . If anything its the 360 holding a lot of current gen games back!! It really wont be long before we see PS3 exclusives that are way bigger and packed full of additional features the 360 simply cant manage.
I love my 360, it has some of the best games this generation has to offer so far, like Bio shock and Gears of War but so does the PS3. Stupid comments like this are not needed and quite frankly baseless! Well... theres my rant over!! ta ta!!

Yeah, but thats just you! Your hardly alone taking this stance but the vast majority of people will probably never even consider downloading the additional stuff unless its really, really special. The DLC isn't really a factor in this as it only concerns a relatively small group of people. I have no idea what the DLC will offer but I would imagine it will just be additional missions and stuff, but no one really plays GTA for its missions do they? To be honest the bulk of them are usually crap. Hopefully this version will turn that around tho.

I can honestly say i have yet to meet anyone who has completed any of the GTA games since GTA 3. They are fantastic games because of the endless fun you can have just messing around in the city with all the 'toys' it has on offer, but the missions are complete pap. pc gaming made gta what it is today? Wow I seem to remember the ps2 having the first 3d GTA when you all had top down views still. Im sure if a GTA4 pc version comes out you will need a sub 800 pound pc to run it on in 18+ months time when it to look anything like either console version so take your head out of your ass. PC has nicer gfx crysis looked awesome but it played like any normal fps game consoles at least feel unique and don't cost half as much to get to a nice spec. Only good game I EVER played on my pc is guildwars and I have tried and bought many.
First of all, what I really meant was that GTA wouldn't have become as big as it has recently, if PC gamers hadn't bought it, making it worthwhile releasing a sequel.(Bear in mind the Playstation version of GTA came out a good bit after GTA PC was released.)
Secondly, I bought a PS2 for the sole purpose of playing GTAIII. Then I bought Vice City, Then San Andreas. (I also bought other games which were non GTA related)
And Thirdly and finally, you seem to be the only person who took the bait and responded in the exact way I hoped a lot more people would.

This is very strange. I logged into the ASDA website and it tells me they have sold out of their preorder for the 360 version and the PS3 version. So how can it be outselling it 3:1 unless they have more copies of the PS3 version to sell?

Like everyone else has said, wait until we see the real figures, the truth is the 360 has a larger fanbase than the PS3 and 60-70% have probably heard of and are interested by GTA4 so the sales will reflect that.

things can be great, yet still boring, if you play a game for months on end, it will become boring, it might stay your favourite game but it doesnt mean you will want to play it all the time, thats the idea with the grand theft auto series, they are all the same, yet they are unique in what they offer.
so when a new one comes, it replaces the old with a new fresher version.
im only going to care about downloadable content when it arrives, at the moment, its nothing

Yeah, I agree - I guess it's a case of which form the DLC will take...if it's 'significant' as R* has said it is, then you'd hope that it'll include a load of new missions, maybe some new cars, weapons etc.

GTA is our weapon to attack the 'WII' which could turn our games market into empire of the casual 3 mintute play. Imagine no advance in graphics, all games are either fitness based or over rated mario titles, all graphics will be cutesy with gold coins.
The only way you will play anything like COD4 will be on the most unreliable machine know to man, THE PC!

Precisely. I think the Xbox proved last gen by having a sequel that it's here to stay. As well as the Wii and DS are doing Nintendo have also proved that they're not going anywhere either.
Look at it this way without the 360 & Wii hot on it's heels do you think the PS3 would have been £299 right now? Sony were telling people to get jobs to afford the extortionate price and thanks to competition people spoke with their wallets. Now it's much more affordable and they're trying to give customers value for money.

Sounds to me like someone really wishes they had the 360 version on GTAIV and they're trying to justify their purchase of a PS3? Btw. Its been confirmed that this DLC will be exclusive to 360. Of course thats not to say that the PS3 wont get some completely different DLC further down the line. And if DLC 'adds what isnt wanted'. Then it wont be like a costly update will it? Because you wouldn't buy it.. Personally I would prefer to have the option of buying the DLC if I decide to. I have faith in Rockstar to truly blow us away with the DLC anyway. For £50mill they'd bloody well better!
Thats not what my local stores have been saying. Both Game and Gamestation near me have taken over 250 preorders of which about 80 are PS3 and the rest are the 360 version. So around 2:1 in the 360's favor.

Houser has confirmed to some publications that the DLC is mission packs that are approximately 10 hours worth of gaming.

Yeah. I heard a rumour it was gonna be a whole new city.. But I'm pretty sure thats unconfirmed. But yeah, it really just depends on what it adds to the game whether it'll be worth buying. You could always trade in your PS3 for a 360 if it looks unmissable, lol

I didn't see this coming! If its true I blame 360 reliability problems.
I bought my 360 in Liverpool, had it carted over to Ireland, kept it in a glass cupboard for the first few weeks (had no idea of RROD at this stage), moved to Munich with it, took it into work to have it used in Video Reviews where various people manhandled it, and have been to Ireland and back with it a few times, and it still works. Crazy. Can't have long left in fairness
