Ubisoft confirms new Prince of Persia game

Out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in late 2008
Prince of Persia will be ninja-flipping his way through a new game on 360, PS3 and PC in late 2008, Ubisoft confirmed moments ago.

Simply titled 'Prince of Persia', the new game is in development at Ubisoft's Montreal Studio - the same guys responsible for the previous three iterations.

The announcement is about as tight as can be with actual gameplay details - it basically didn't offer any - but it does promise that the new game will "rejuvenate the action-adventure genre in addition to introducing a brand-new illustrative art style," so that's alright.

We expect a man in baggy trousers, climbing, and sword fights to feature.

The plot will start afresh, apparently "opening a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe".

Ubi also confirmed that it's working on a portable version "specifically designed for the Nintendo DS system, featuring an entirely new storyline and new characters."

"More details to be unveiled in the future," says Ubisoft, and we should hope so, too.

I loved prince of persia, maybe we can now have a sequel that deserves to share the same brand name as Sands of time, which in my opinion is one of the best games of last gen.

Hopefully it'll use Assassin's Creed style free-running mechanics along with a bit of free-fighting!
