I played Final Fantasy 11 from the day of release and became heavily addicted for a couple of years, it’s a great game, perhaps the best online game I have ever played but like any game it has its flaws. This game has large flaws, Square Enix customer support for one, is absolutely appalling, my account was hacked and they didn't absolutely nothing to restore my details so I stopped playing the game, if they had resolved this I probably would still be playing. Another reason not to pick this game up is the end game (high level which takes over 100 days playtime to get to) is still very much alive, but when it comes to low levelling, there are very few new players and it takes hours upon hours to get groups to level with (final fantasy xi relies on group based levelling and you cannot level up solo) after waiting an hour for 5 others to go level with, often parties break up, or they get killed, hence the 100 days (2400 hours) or more to attain the top level. The expansions as well are incredibly hard to get into, when I was playing two expansions were out (Rise of Zilart and Chains of Promathia) CoP is an absolutely massive expanse of play which will take you well over 50 days play time to see, My character at the end of it had around 220 days play time and I didn't even get to see the majority of the expansion simply because it was just too hard to find a group to do it with, and even then, depending on what class you choose, only certain classes are suitable for some missions, people actually go back and spend a further 100 days play time levelling the right class just to beat it, its ridiculous. Time aside, the cut scenes and sense of achievement doesn't compare to any other game, you will literally jump out of your chair with joy (if you haven't put on 10 stone from sitting down and levelling for days and days) at completion of any part of the expansions. If you have the time and patience to devote to this, I'd recommend it, but if not, look somewhere else, this game's time has passed and coupled with terrible customer service, I don’t think it is any longer a good choice.
