MotorStorm 2: 16 tracks, Home confirmed

Plus gorgeous new shots of the game in action
Nigel Kershaw, game director for MotorStorm 2, has confirmed that the new racer will have a "strong presence" on Home when the service eventually launches this year.

Breaking the silence on the lush-looking racer, Kershaw said, "Home is a really exciting area for all PlayStation 3 developers. It's going to have a huge impact on the gaming public when it comes out."

Without giving too much away, he added: "I think it's going to really start binding the PS3 online community together. I'm really looking forward to watching it progress, and MotorStorm will be a strong presence from the off."

Kershaw also confirmed that the final game will have 16 tracks - twice as many as the original at launch - with far more interaction in each one.

"The environments are much more interactive in the new game. This is especially true of the new track elements - the water, vegetation, lava and so on. And again, their effects differ from one vehicle class to the next," he said.

Improved physics and a greater emphasis on course destruction can be expected, thanks to a totally new engine powering the game:

"The engine is completely new. For MotorStorm we were working on a brand new console with brand new tools and libraries. They have all now matured a bit, and of course we now have more experience and knowledge of how to get the console to work to its enormous potential," Kershaw said.

"So rather than try to improve upon the previous tech base, we built a new one using what we'd learnt during the previous game's development."

New screens of Evolution Studios' handy work can also be seen in D-Pad's interview, and if you haven't already, you really should watchthe teaser trailer.

Really looking forward to this game after the success of the original, the new environments look incredible too Very Happy My anticipation for home has declined in recent months due to its continued delays, hopefully Sony will do something to heighten its appeal.
