Photographs from the location shoot of the new Max Payne movie have emerged online, revealing Chris O'Donnell in character for the first time.
While Mark Wahlberg is the titular character, Chris O'Donnell plays an executive tied into the big conspiracy that led to the death of Payne's family. He's seen here walking along the snowy streets of New York, either asleep, annoyed or simply caught by the camera at the wrong moment.
Thanks to Film School Rejects for the shots, and there's another shot of Wahlberg as Payne (you can see the first one here).
Max Payne: The Movie is still due sometime this year.
If they treat this film as if based on a novel or script rather than an interactive entertainment form then it could be well worth a watch. There are not too many gritty crime thrillers around these days that don't involve some tacky supernatural theme or whatever...Wahlberg showed some acting class playing a hard-hitting 'good/bad' cop in The Departed which, interestingly enough, was the last good crime film in my opinion.
After seeing Iron Man my faith in games/comic book to movies has been restored, here's hoping they don't screw this up.Seen the poster for this movie and definalty think it's going to be a winner.
if this is half as good as the hitman movie i may walk away happy wahlberg is a pretty good actor aslong as the role and story are right so fingers crossed. I wasn't a fan of the max payne games but had a certain respect for them just like hitman. nicely created characters mostly.
Sorry to the the naysayer here, but this just feels off - I just can't buy into Wahlberg as Payne. I want to be proven wrong on this as I don't want the film of such a great game to be a turkey, but as yet I'm just not convinced at all.
The best thing about the game was the cut-scenes/comics. It was brilliantly executed and had a fantastic voice-over with some really memorable one liners.
As Rosepetal said, they really want to approach it as a comic more than a game.
f**k a stupid max payne film that will probably be s**t. they need to make a new max payne game more like
I agree,Stranglehold was a complete rip off of the max payne gameplay, so if theyre comtemplating a new game it'll probably be not far from Woo's effort.
if it contains a trippy dream sequence with dialog like: "Suddenly it all made sense; the repetitive action, the increasingly larger explosions, the conversations where everyone is sharp and never talk over each other, the witty lines that keep springing to mind.....i was in a hollywood action movie."
I'm actually looking forward to this. Marky Mark showed he could play the Max Payne archetype in The Departed (his final scene is fantastic), and Shooter.
hitman was a total wankfest as well; not a single simalarity to the game save the baldness and the barcode tatoo. though Timothy Olyphant an absolute FAILURE at being 47...
