Skate spin-off coming to DS, Wii, Skate 2 confirmed

Touch screen, motion controls and balance board features to be used
Electronic Arts is set to bring a spin-off from Skate for both Wii and DS, tentatively titled Skate It.

The original version trounced all over Tony Hawk by heavily focusing on dual-analogue stick control for stuns and moves. It was bastard hard at first but worth the blood, sweat and tears if you stuck with it.

"We knew it would be an exciting challenge to bring the soul and feel of skateboarding to the Wii and Nintendo DS," said Scott Blackwood, Executive Producer.

"With fresh new designs and gameplay components built from scratch, we've been able to capture the true experience of skateboarding in a completely innovative way."

By innovative, he means the game will use the Touch Screen controls of the DS and the motion sensor on Wii. In addition, the Balance Board will be an optional accessory on the home console.

Separately, Skate 2 is also in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. So if you're not a Wii or DS owner, don't feel too dejected. Your blood, sweat and tears will soon be demanded by the series again.

Balance Board controlled skate would be sweet.

I LOVE skate... But I reckon it would just be gimmicky crap with the balance board. I can imagine it working quite well with the remote and nunchuck but it'll be a waste of time with just the board. You'd have to use the remote in conjunction with it anyway, defeating the point.
How would you spin? How would you flip? How would you do something that needed a spin and a flip like a tre or flip shove-it? Not to mention grabs and having to jump around like a n00b every time you want to ride switch.
It'll just end up dull like Top Skater if you don't use the remote.
I can see Skate It turning out more like Downhill Jam than skate proper.

As long as they let you get off the board this time skate 2 will be awesome though.
