Neversoft's Guitar Hero IV will feature custom song creation and multiple instruments when it launches later on this year, says a US mag report.
According to Shacknews, the latest issue of Game Informer has spilled the first details on Guitar Hero 4. The forth title in the series will expand the musical peripheral offerings to include drum and vocal gameplay, in addition to bass and guitar.
The song creation process is a little unclear, but it sounds like the functionality will allow players to take the existing songs and modify the heck out of everything but the vocals. So you CAN put a thirty minute guitar solo in Hotel California, if you so desire.
You'll also be able to upload it and even desire your own record sleeve. We're expecting something akin to My SingStar Online for this.
Confirmed bands so far consist of Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime. All tracks will be master tracks provided by the respective record labels.
Whether or not Rock Band peripherals will be compatible with GHIV is currently unknown.
This is good news for music fans as they now go head-to-head with EA's Rock Band, it should be us gamers who benefit. Not only will they be trying to make some great signings for their own games, they will also try and out-price each other, so we'll hopefully see a drop in the cost of the instruments, download packs etc.
I just hope Guitar Hero doesn't lose it's focus of the tight guitar gameplay in it's attempt to rival Rock Band's group experience!
I'm not paying for a drum set or a microphone peripheral that's for damned sure.
I hope at least they don't make the last set of songs on hard f**king impossible if you aren't born with 6 fingers a hand like they did with the turd instalment. Yeah I'm sure some of you have completed them and possibly made it over 95% on each one - but you're freaks.

I have the same problem! The 2nd to last set of songs I can only do one track. The rest just seem impossible. But all the others I have no problem. Its the biggest difficulty spike ive ever encountered.

Oh dear, looks like i'm a freak . I'd really rather i wasn't!
Back on topic though, if it is the case that all these extra instruments are part of the game it looks like I won't be buying it. If i wanted a band simulator i'd buy Rock Band, actually no i wouldn't as the price is extortionate.
I love Guitar Hero 3 on Wii. First i ever played of them and i love it. Trying to get 5 stars on every Medium song, got about 6 to go and i'm currently trying to do well on hard. Stuggle with a few of them on hard but give me The Sex Pistols on hard and i can do it by only missing 1 or 2 notes.
Hell, I want it tougher than GH3!!! I've spent months working on that game (5 starred One and Cliffs of Dover on Expert today, just Raining Blood left to 5 star! Gotta do that before Rockband comes out!!!)
This is what I want from my games. As much as I love an epic storyline right now I love trying to better myself. I'm obsessed I know. But I LOVE it
82% through "Through The Fire And The Flames" and rising...
