A Global Youth Survey conducted by Habbo, the second one it's done apparently, has revealed that PlayStation 3 "is the console of choice for teens today".
The report asked 58,486 teens between the ages of 11 and 18 in a global survey across 31 markets. 69 percent refer to PS3 as 'great' or 'good'. This was followed closely by the Nintendo Wii at 64 percent and Xbox 360 with 58 percent. So there's not much in it by the looks of it.
PS3 beat Wii in every age group except the 11 to 12 year olds and Wii was more popular among girls up to 16. Are you surprised to learn that it's the "favoured female choice overall"? Thought not.
The results also showed that while Xbox 360 is less popular in Europe and Asia, its popularity in the US is much better. It's the most popular console in Mexico and Colombia and takes second place in the US, Canada, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
"The results of this survey are interesting as it gives us an insight into which brands these teens aspire to as the level of ownership does not correspond to the consoles' popularity," said the people behind the survey. "By order of ownership, the Wii leads, followed by the Xbox 360 and PS3."
Of the teens surveyed, 24 percent own a Wii, with 21 percent and 23 percent owning a PS3 and Xbox 360 respectively. The results do suggest significant growth potential, with each of these consoles there is another 20 percent planning on buying one of these consoles in the next 12 months. Wii and PS3 have the most sales potential.
The report finished: "As Sony and Xbox strive to broaden their console's appeal, from hardcore to casual gamer, the results of the survey seem to indicate that gender, not previous gaming experience, determines console choice. Regardless of their level of interest towards gaming boys prefer the PS3 and girls prefer the Wii."
As an 18 year old in college i can say that from my experience that iss a load of rubbish. I know 4 people (including myself with ps3's) but 15-20 with xbox 360's.

You could say it means the 360 is "adult only" and doesn't appeal to kids.
That would be a fair assessment, given that ownership of both the X360 and the PS3 were almost equal among that age group, despite the higher current X360 userbase.
Now all we need is for some X360 fanboy to come by and make a list of other things that 11-18s like, such as Hannah Montana, and Girls Aloud, and lump the PS3 somewhere in the middle of that list.
i suspect its because parents buy the PS3 based on its brand where as the 360 doesnt have that yet. i wonder what percentage of consoles owning teens actually bought the console they have?
So to conclude boys & girls like the Wii, boys like the 360 but also the PS3 whilst girls like the Wii, the PS3 & the 360, but some boys also like the Wii & some girls don't like the 360, but some girls do. Some boys prefer the 360 over the PS3 but not over the Wii, but prefer more PS3's to girls, who prefer the Wii over the PS3 but prefer the 360 over everything. In the future some girls will be playing on the Wii, the 360 & the PS3, but not at the same time, boys will also be playing one console at one time but not with the girls, ugh! At retail, lots of Wii's, 360's & PS3's will be sold, some to girls, some to boys, some to both, it all makes sense really.
To be honest I don't know anyone who owns a 360 whether they're adults are teenagers at youth clubs I run.
Its a bit of a shame really cause I'd like to try some of the 360 games out but I don't fancy owning 3 consoles (having said that when I sell my wii then i may pick up an elite - i'm keeping the ps3 though.)
Most teenagers don't buy their own consoles anyway so I think the results of the survey are a little inaccurate when you look at what they own.

LOL reminds me of word problems in math probability classes. That or a Monty Python skit
Good, as the less teens on LIVE the better. Oh and here we go with the PS3 is "gaining momentum" stuff again. Hell the PS3 can do nothing BUT gain momentum considering how lame it has been since release.
All my friends with 11-18 year old sons, who have 360s, tell me they now want PS3s. Which shows that teenagers are easily influanced by media and marketing far more than adults are. And, as stated above, all they've ever known is the Playstation brand.
To be honest I'd say that this is really inaccurate. I mean everybody knows the Playstation brand. Adults, kids, teens everyone. I'd say most of them said cause it's the most well known.
These guys are idiots. Since when did 11 & 12 year olds become teenagers? The survey should of been conducted between 13 and 19 year olds. Morons
And sounds to me like Sony have probably had some influence in this, considering how apparently the PS3 was the favourite yet it has the lowest attach rate. And it only being labeled as "great" or "good"? I'm sure plenty of people said the 360 was "awesome" and the Wii probably something like "great fun"
When you consider this idiot and GodOfGta3 falls into that age range, I really don't think you should set too much stock by what this age group says; or at least, some members of that age group; given I'm still in that age group... (17)
All very well and good but the average kid could not afford neither a Ps3 or a 360 and all this reasearch is done on someones own views and not necessarily what machine they own.
Well, of the people I know, three (including me) own a PS3, some girls own the Wii , but most others own the 360. Unfortunately, the latter (I know this will s**t-stir but at least I'm being honest, eh?) are complete retards and don't their bottom from the elbow. Or are nerds. Or, (this is the vast majority) they are extremely 'casual gamers' meaning that most of the games they play are s**t, but these f**ktards think they're the dog's balls because the games are 'dark' or 'edgy'.

*sigh*
Errr... what?
Most of my mates own 360's (I think I myself managed to convince them to get one- means more game trading- wahey!), but one guy at work sold his for a PS3 and was gloating about the free online. I asked him what games he was playing... and he said Fifa...
