Square Enix has confirmed that its first Xbox 360-exclusive RPG, Infinite Undiscovery, will be released worldwide on September 2.
The game is being developed by Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile dev Tri-Ace, and has been described (by Square Enix) as an epic RPG where "various situations unfold in a world that changes in real time, with players' choices leading to unknown discoveries."
After Valkyrie Profile 2's excellent reception last year, this could turn out to be a good'en.
Have a look at the latest, bloody gorgeous screenshots here.
UPDATE: Square Enix has informed us that the European date is September 5, and the earlier one is for North America. We've added five new screenshots as well.
Autumn/winter is so crowded for games releases, not that I'm complaining! I'm enjoying Valkyrie Profile 2 (just started it), so hopefully this will be good.
I never know what to think of these Square Enix games if i'm honest... i'm not a massive jap RPG fan. As RPG's go i'm far more into KOTOR & the like although nothing has ever approached the original neverwinter nights or baldurs gate for me... still it looks nice... but it looks like a jap RPG.

I know what you mean - aside from Skys of Arcadia, which I loved, those JRPGs never really flicked my switch. I saw a LOT of Final Fantasys played by my nephew, and frankly, they looked dull. Even Secret of Mana had a more interesting combat system. Ah well. On the plus side, those screen shots look phenominal - I literally said 'whoa' at the shot of that city front.
To start with, THIS GAME IS NOT DEVELOPED BY SQUARE-ENIX!!! It's developed by Tri-Ace and merely published by Square-Enix. Just thought I'd point that out... As for the game, I think it looks great. 360 really is just swimming with JRPG's compared to other next-gen consoles, which is something I never thought I'd say start of this gen. Hopefully it's not out the same time as Fable 2 though as I'd hate to choose between them.
I realise it's not develpoed by Square Enix, was just being lazy as i coulnd't remember the developers name. Anyway it's a JRPG and so i can't get excited, i hope it's good tho.
Oh and Skys of Arcadia was so good... please god Sega/overworks a remake or a sequel or just anything.

To us, the core gamers, that's common knowledge. But to the less informed RPG nut, they just have to see Square Enix on the cover and BAM! sale. Brand recognition at its finest.

Depending on the reviews, I'll snap it up.
SqueeNix owns Tri-Ace, so pointing out the differences is rather moot.
And it's good to see the 360 get perhaps the best JRPGs this time around. Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG for this current gen of system, and if the next Final Fantasy is an overblown, worthless piece of crap like XII is, then the 360 could *gasp* actually be home to the best JRPGs out there.
However, I do have to say that JRPGs are getting rather stale as a whole--Persona 3 and Lost Odyssey were the only things really to get me a buzzin', and Blue Dragon didn't do anything other than p**s me off with it's abusive achievements.
I'd still take a Mass Effect or another BioWare-made Star Wars: KotOR over most of the JRPG schlock out there any day.

Tri Ace are independant, its just that SE owns the IP's for most of their franchises
