Grand theft console: Pair steal 1,440 PS3s

Two men found guilty of nicking £700,000 worth of PS3s, which still haven't been found...
Two men have been found guilty of the grand theft console heist of £700,000 worth of PlayStation 3s, and remain in custody pending sentence.

Partizan Zejak, aged 28, and Nard Paloka, 29 robbed the consoles from NYK Logistics in Grange Park, Northampton, making off with 1,440 PS3s.

The consoles have never been found (which goes some ways in explaining the console's impressive numbers in Europe).

The pair, who were former employees of the warehouse, denied the theft of the consoles, despite the fact CCTV captured them driving off with 25 pallets in a 38-tonne HGV lorry.

The two men drove up to the security gates of the warehouse and told the security officer (who has since been sacked) that they were from logistics firm Trilogy, and were collecting the consoles to deliver them to Scunthorpe. They're so good, they make Ocean's 11 look like Del Boy and Rodney.

Prosecutor, Stuart Yeung said the two men were not the organisers but acted as "foot soldiers", using their inside knowledge of the warehouse and its security (i.e. they knew the guy on the gate was a bit thick).

Judge Charles Wide QC remanded the pair in custody and warned them they now face prison sentences. Ten years ain't so bad with a PS3 in your cell, though...

Laughing

This sounds like its been more inspired from stealing iPods in Heroes than GTA.

Reminds me of that San Andreas mission where you steal a few crates of weapons with Ryder.

That was a bastard.

Still, when they get out the PS3 will still be riding high - assuming Sonys 10 year plan goes ahead Smile

Might be some decent exclusive games out for it by the time they get out. Razz

These guys should be tortured until they say where the Ps3's are....

Forced sessions on Wii Fit for example...

I bet that's done Sony a massive favour actually. Apart from the publicity, Sony will probably get their money spent on the consoles back from their insurance company - maybe even the amount it costs to manufacture, rather than its retail price. Also, the PS3s will still be out there and in the hands of gamers who will obviously be buying and playing games on it.
Very suspicious..... Wink

They did the world a favor. Kudos.

So if it had been 360's/wii's that got stolen it would be the crime of the century and all you 360/wii owners would be up in arms about it
stonecold77 on 22 May '08
The 2 Albanians were probably being used by the Mafia just like GTA IV Very Happy

Like it. Nothing to regret. I bet they had a 'dual shock' when they got caught... Oh, that's badness, right there.
Mark240473 on 22 May '08
within a few days they both will have blew Ray.
Score. Rolling Eyes

The consoles have never been found (which goes some ways in explaining the console's impressive numbers in Europe).

Even as an attempt at humour it doesn't make sense cuz I seriously doubt Sony would get any sales figures from dodgy dealers selling PS3s in your local pub.
jamsponge on 23 May '08
I hope they rot in hell. Maybe they'll be sharing a cell with Jack Thompson. That'll go down well Laughing
sonic_uk on 23 May '08
that no body wants to steal a breakbox load?oh well maybe MS could stage there own theft of a truck load of broken 360's and get some insurance cash back.
