Tekken and Castlevania movie production company Crystal Sky Pictures has secured $200 million dollars in financing money, in part to green light a Castlevania movie.
According to Variety, the movie will be written by Paul 'Resident Evil' Anderson and directed by Sylvain White. Who made 'I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.' Nice to see Crystal Sky is investing its money wisely, there.
Crystal Sky Pictures is also responsible for the new Tekken movie, which we posted costume photos from yesterday.
Other titles to be produced with the money is a sequel to John Woo's excellent action movie 'Hard Boiled,' which last year's game Stranglehold was also a sequel to. No word yet if the movie will be based on the game.
Oh, and a big screen adaptation of Pac-Man. That wasn't a joke, by the way.
Really? The Pac Man thing wasn't a joke. Seriously, you have got to be shi*ting me! Even done in CG, where can you go with a movie based on pac Man.....actually, saying that, and stick with me here folks...Pac Man starring Steven Segal!? Does that have a ring to it or is it just me....could have Thunderbox do the soundtrack to boot! Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like the sound of it.
On a more serious note, a sequel to Hard Boiled would be more than welcome in my eyes....as long as it has original star/director combo. If they're not both there, you can stick it up your as*. As for Castlevania...neither the writer, nor the director really breed confidence. 200 million - You can only polish a turd so much!
Paul Anderson is a poor choice. The Resident Evil films sucked and were nothing like the games. Well at lest Boll is not on board that has to be a good thing right.

This chances of this being crap are very high, how about spending the money making a next gen Castlevania game instead?
Well seeing as this is a computer games forum and i have very little interest in movies, game related or not, i can't help but feel totally dis-interested whether it's a good film or not!
At least it isn't Uwe Boll as already said. Wasi n ASDA and the Bloodrayne DVD caught my eye (i recognised the logo ), looked at the cover, thought "WTF", wondering why it looked more like a comedy from the front cover...and then it clicked. You might as well have a big advert to the Petition on ther page.
Resident Evil movies were ok, nothing special, wouldn't do anything bad for the games but wouldn't do much good.
Ye gods, why? Between Paul Anderson and Uwe Boll they may as well just throw the game licenses out of the window. Granted, the Resident Evil movies weren't terrible, but they were far from good, and completely did away with the whol storyline and concept of the games in favour of some very loosely related tie ins.
No doubt Castlevania will be the same.
Konami: We want someone to do a Castlevania Movie! Paul Anderson: I'll do it! I did Resident Evil, that was one of your games too, wasn't it? Konami: No quite, but sure, go ahead! Paul Anderson: Thanks! I was thinking of setting it in the near future, where Richter Belmont is a commando in a high-tech vampire hunting vigilante group... Konami: Yeah yeah whatever, just give us the license money. Fans: *facepalm*
hmmm, I wonder how long it will take for people to say this will suck?
I'm keeping an open mind though this time though.
I'll tell you why it'll suck, because Paul 'can't write for s**t' Anderson is writing the screenplay. He's an okay director, but he can't write a decent screenplay/story to save his life.
He royally f**ked up the Resident Evil story and characters. So Castlevania fans beware, you'll probably get a new character not associated with the Castlevania universe at all, who is called Bob and likes icecream covered in marshmallows.
Anderson has a habit of thinking he's a genuis, and includes alot of unnecessary crap.
not that im overly interested in this film but the bloke who wrote the resi films spoiled them as they were nothing like the game, the only thing similar was the title and the zombies, so i wouldnt expect much!
You know there was a script for the Resi film penned by none other than George A Romero, and it was rejected in favour of the one that got made. His stuck closer to the game story as well.

His last zombie film, Land of the Dead (which I enjoyed alot) felt more like Resident Evil 2 the game over all 3 so-called official Resi films combined.
