Far Cry 2 single-player "close to 50 hours"

"Gamers will get their money's worth," producer tells CVG
The single-player campaign in FarCry 2 alone could keep gamers occupied for up 50 hours, says the game's producer, Louis-Pierre Pharand.

We knew, just by looking at the game's enormous free-roaming environments, that it would be big, but 50 hours is epic. You can take a look at the official trailer here.

"Just on single alone, gamers can potentially have close to 50 hours of game play," Pharand told CVG, when we asked if he'd considered adding a co-op mode to the game.

"We decided to abandon it for this instalment simply because of the complexity and size of the game," he said. "Add the Multi experience & the Map Editor... gamers will have their money's worth with FarCry2."

Check out the full interview here and look out for hands-on impressions soon.

Well, fifty hours and large environments are all well and good, but many a game has made the same mistake and given the player large expanses with nothing to do in between. Assassins Creed being a recent example of this.

I hope this turns out to be fantastic.

Yay - big long action game to enjoy

Nay - developers forcing demanding hours to complete a game.

He said that players can spend 50 hours.

I hope that doesnt mean we'll have to.
gothchild on 28 May '08
I would rather have ten great hours than fifty hours of repeated gameplay, looking forward to this though.
eHawK on 28 May '08
well if we apply the game developer bulls**t factor it comes to about 15 hours
Big_Bad_Bassist on 28 May '08
It could take you 50+ plus hours to complete. But I suspect it'll be around 15 hours Wink

What was that about multiplayer and map editor?

Is that referring to online multiplayer and map editor?

You mean original PC version, surely?

And that is if people even bother to buy it. I'll be pirating this like I do all games. If it is worth, I'll buy it, like I do all games.

The videos I've seen, though, indicate this will be extremely worth it and will definately be getting my money. Unless I need a hardware upgrade for it.

Sounds about the same length as STALKER. Nice & meaty without outstaying its welcome. I look forward to it. Cool

Maybe it's just my warped sense of humour but that post contains some serious innuendo. If we were to debate the exact nature of the thing you call "STALKER" that is.

I honestly can't wait for FC2. I think it's going to bag Game of the year for me. This or Fallout 3 anyway.

if you just want to blow though the main mission in stalker you can do it in about ten hours, it took me about twenty and three playthoughs at 20 hours each to completely discover everything. If you discover everything in your first time, the next playthoughs wont be as fun
