Sony has made a virtual version of the PlayStation event that it held in the London O2 dome a few weeks back.
Even though it looks nothing like the actual Indigo2 venue you can still get a good look at trailers and other assets from the day running in billboards in the background.
Hit the link on your right to bring up the movie player.
Thing is it'll never work like that. Try it on Second Life and see how ridiculously slow and bogged down everything gets.
It's nice that Sony are trying, but they're promising too much that they simply will not be able to deliver.
Even on Xbox Live (the more robust online system) it would be hell trying to get into a 3D room like that with millions of gamers logging on with all their custom clothing and accessories all trying to catch the first glimpse of the latest Halo game...
I mean look at what happened with the first GTA IV trailer. That was just a video embedded on a website - all that had to deal with was traffic and bandwidth, and it still died within the first 10 minutes.
This just wont work, I guarantee it. Infact I'd like to put money on Sony coming out with a subscription-based plan in the future for big events. They simply can't afford the hardware to accommodate all that bandwidth and traffic for free.

I disagree with you there. It is only like COD4 and Halo 3 having millions of online players. The fact is that people will be in seperate lobbies so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. It is the actual software doing most of the work, whilst the servers are already in place for PSN users. Just my opinion.
