New details on 360 MMO Huxley revealed

Single-player free, exclusive 360 content planned
Huxley developer Webzen has unveiled new details about its online shooter Huxley, confirming the single player will be free to play and that the Xbox 360 version will include extra content.

According to OXM UK, Producer Kijong "KJ" Kang told its US counterparts that the Xbox-exclusive campaigns and PVP battles will "reveal more secrets about world that you will never find in the PC version."

Kang also confirmed that the game will first launch for PC later on this year and then appear on 360 a few months later. Players can expect to pay a standard subscription model to access the MMO segment of the game, but can also play offline for free.

In case you've forgotten, Huxley is FPS shooter that combines twitch combat and vehicles with a persistent world that includes PvP, PvE and a proper levelling system.

Subscriptions fees maybe, but if that's supposed to on top of the Xbox Live Gold fees, they can stick it somewhere unpleasant.

Has anybody read anything anywhere about whether you'll need a paid-up live account to play Huxley?

If other MMO's on 360 are anything to go by, then the subscription fees will be on top of XBL Gold fees, and you WILL need a Gold account to play online.

I already pay to play online! I have been looking forward to this game for some time, but now they can shove it.

Actually FFXI doesn't require a Gold sub, only the game sub. PSU is the only other subscription game I can think of, and I don't know about that one needing Gold.

The option of not paying for gol dis kind of mute though, as everyone who likes online games and has a 360 already has Gold. What people want is to have online subscriptions be included in that, but all evidence suggests it wont be.

Not a hope in hell of me getting it then. Monthly sub = yeeuch!
wudragon on 30 May '08
I've no problem with Monthly subs if a game is good (I spend around £20 per month on PC MMOs), so on the Xbox I don't see this an extra barrier for me. Granted, it's very rare for gamers to have to pay a sub like this on a console but don't expect this one to the last.

That said, Huxley was looking really good 3 or so years ago when I first saw a video for it, however things have changed and I'll need to see what it has that will set it apart from the games out now

It's an MMO. The majority of MMO's have a subscription fee. Hence, when you saw it was an MMO you should have concluded that there would be a fee, on top of your gold fee. Think of it in conventional terms, you PAY for the internet, but still have to pay on top of that to play a PC mmo. Same concept.

Edit: also, why would you expect it to be included in the gold fee? the gold fee goes to microsoft, naive to assume they would give money to anyone else.

I do a hell of a lot of online gaming, but I don't pay for XBL-Gold.

I wouldn't object to paying subscription fees for a good console MMO, but I would object to having to pay for a second subscription on top on that for a service I'll never use.

Except now you'll be paying for the internet, paying for a Gold account and paying for an MMO sub.
No thanks.

Yes of course there are exceptions who have 360s but get their online fix elsewhere, but you don't figure into my equation (cos you'll get Huxley for the PC if it is any good, which seems doubtful). Smile

I didnt realise that there were so many poor people in the UK.

We are talking about £40 (or less, if you hunt around) for a full years subscription.

I probably used to spend more than that buying shoite magazines just to get Demos of games i was interested in.

If you are going to purchase a new console, personally I think you would be mad not to shell out the 75p per day it costs for Live.

That is just me though and no doubt I am wrong and everyone else is right.

exactly my problem with the xbox360..which is why i never bought 1.
ps3 allows keyboard use on games
free online service.

most xbox360's games eventually make there way to pc at somepoint...and a game like huxley...a FPS MMO..is going to be heavy requirement on a keyboard imo.
i saw this game running along time ago..it looked amazing..fps games are for keyboards/mouse..controllers just cant keep the pace of a k/m user.

dont forget your beloved x360 is MICROSOFT...they push most games onto 'VISTA' as its designed to be a multimedia o/s

true but...this game will cost you £16+ a month to play including live subs lol

75p A DAY! Where are you buying your Gold membership from? They ripped you off...
Deadgood UK on 30 May '08
i will play the offline version and see how it is and then decide whether to go to the MMO part

just stopped playing FF11 on the 360(and as said, you only need a silver account)...so i am looking for another MMO...isnt age of conan supposed to be coming to the 360 as well?

My bad. I meant per week. Embarassed
StonecoldMC on 31 May '08
@metallicorphan

No Age of Conan MMO has NO hope in hell of coming to x360...
It's a 30gb game install i've heard and thats more than 2 dual layer dvd's...plus the problem of most X360 owners only have the 20GB HDD (I'm one of those people I don't see why I should fork out 140 quid for 120gb when I can buy a normal HDD 120GB for under 50 quid...Microsoft screw people again as after all its only a sodding LAPTOP hdd in there)

So no...Age of conan won't come to consoles..

As for paying for any MMO on xbox...I refuse.

Sadly I'm of the ilk that say if I pay for XBLive why should I pay more for a bloody game monthly?!
Take it and stick it! Razz
