SFIV: online play confirmed

Console-exclusive characters planned too says producer
The home console version of Street Fighter IV will boast online play and characters exclusive to the different consoles, says producer, Yoshinori Ono.

Ono also told of plans to include new fighters in the home version of the game that will not be seen in the Arcade version.

He stresses, however, that Capcom would be "adding characters while watching the overall balance" of the game, being careful not to add content simply for the sake of boosting package.

"We won't be adding unnecessary stuff," he told Famitsu (via IGN) in reference to the online mode's feature set. We'd be happy with straight one-on-one battles, and maybe a knock-out tournament mode.

Can't wait, either way.

So we have the pointless Yoda in Soul Calibur, who will we have in SF4? Dr Who, perhaps? Bod? Marvin the Martian?

What does exclusive characters achieve other than to annoy everyone? I've got an idea - how about put Ryu in the PS3 version and Ken in the Xbox version. Oh no, that's right. That would be ridiculous wouldn't it?

Exclusive characters is a simply silly idea. Are people going to buy two copies of the game in case they want to play as one of these exclusive characters. It better not be one of the classic characters as an exclusive!

Online play? Sounds good, i'd like 4 player online mode, though that'll probably mean tag team, 1 player controlling 1 character.

Soul Caliber 2 *Cough Cough*

Wasn't that a hit? With PS2 and GC users alike? (Xbox = Lol)

I don't think they meant as far as to seperate Ryu and Ken, exaggerating a bit are we?

It's more imaginative those 3 newly created characters for the game are going to be exclusive for each console or so (Their names escape me right now). It's almost a deemed fact all the classic characters are going to be in every version.

Logic does go a long way.

Nowhere does he say there will be different exclusive characters for each console version.
He says there will be exclusive characters in the console version that aren't in the arcade version.

I hope they dont bring in a Tag system! All i want is them to stick to the formula tekken 5 is on.
sbolton666 on 30 May '08
i'd love to see a tag mode added, marvel vs capcom 1 and 2 were wicked tag battles and were proper intense when 2 skilled players would play each other, street fighter alpha 3 on psp added a tag mode it should have been heavy but it was only 2 on 1 so was a bit pointless.
And whats the deal with super street fighter 2 turbo hd? when is this hd version out even out?
