Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi has said that Capcom expects the final play time to clock in at around twenty hours.
"Right now, in the development process we're about 60 percent of the way through," producer Jun Takeuchi said to Joystiq. "We're figuring that the total play time in the game will be over 20 hours."
Capcom has recently unveiled a bucket load of blood-soaked screens for Resident Evil 5, which you may not have seen yet, and you really should.
It took me just over 24 hours on my first run through Resident Evil 4. As I don't rush through my games, I like to explore every nook and cranny. So 20+ hours would be what I'm expecting for resi 5.

It took me 24 hours as well, really enjoyed the last one. Id guess my overall playtime with re-plays and mini games was close to 50 hours.

Aye. I went straight through it again on professional, which took me about 14ish hours. Did all the mercenary challenges, etc. I went through the game again on professional with the unlocked hand-cannon gun, was funny.
I then went through it on normal on the PS2 version. Did the Ada missions, etc. Never went through it on professional on the PS2 version though.
If this can match the value of Resi 4 the it will already be one step ahead of the pack, considering I must have played that game to the end at least into double figures, along with getting some killer Mercenaries scores I might add .
Just hope it gets a Wii version, or at least a decent PC port .
I can't see that happening. The wii doesn't have the power. The game would have to be seriously cut down or split across a few discs to do it, and I doubt that Capcom will do it. The wii doesn't really have the market for it any more either.
Regardless, it's shaping up nicely, I can't wait to play it.
Loved Resi 4 didn't want it to end, it just kept getting better and better, only slight let down was the final boss being a bit too easy with the free rocket launcher etc.. but I can overlook that. Definitely one of my fave games from the last decade. 20+ hours, extra missions, mercenaries, shooting galleries... Amazing!
This should build on that and hopefully throw in some online multi-player mercenaries challenges and leader boards. Can't wait, in the mean time I'll carry on enjoying Resi 4 again on the Wii!

The Wii could not hope to match the resolution, however there is no reason why they couldn't just make it on the Resi 4 engine, I imagine porting over the assets would take little work. The effort would be well worth it what with the improved controls and the fact that both Resi 4 Wii edition and Umbrella Chronicles have sold over 1 million each.

With both Resi games (1 port and 1 on rails shooter) released on Wii selling over a million copies each I think there's definitely a market there.
Can't see Resi 5 getting a release on Wii though, I think it will be a entirely new game or a Resi 2 port. But I'm sure the Wii will get more Resident Evil. I'd love for them to make a new game in the old game play style, with some improvements.
In regards to the chances of this being released on Wii, next to none. It's not just about graphics or resolution but about pyhsics, AI, amount of characters on screen at once etc... Like stated, they *could* just remake it based on the Resi 4 engine but why waste that amount of time and resources while they could be making another Resi game for Wii that may also appeal to 360/PS3 owners? Most likley we'll see a remake of Resi 2 or maybe another spin off game for Wii.

Imagine a remake of Resi 2 using the Resi 4 engine. Walking through Racoon City in glorious 3D, more enemies, extra set pieces it would sell over a million copies. Even PS3 and 360 who don't own a Wii would consider getting one for the chance to re-live what is still considered the best game of the series by many Resi fans.
