Castlevania Wii game in the works for 2008?

Comic magazine let's slip on new Wii game for Autumn, Konami keeping quiet
Comic book magazine Preview has claimed that a Castlevania game will be released for the Wii in the fall of this year.

The magazine spilled the info whilst detailing its PR campaign for a comic book based on the PS2 title Curse of Darkness.

It says the book will be "cross-promoted with 2008 video game releases, which include games for Nintendo Wii and DS (Fall 2008)".

We already knew about a new Castlevania DS game (see screens here), but the Wii version is news to us. We've contacted Konami, but unfortunately they were unable to comment on the matter.

I dont know his name, I dont really care for this series - but the head Castlevania guy has said a million times that he'd never do a Castlevania game for Wii because people would expect to whip using the remote, and he thinks its a ridiculous idea that would hurt the gameplay (and your wrists) immensely.

And I have to say I agree. People slag the Wii off for its control schemes, yet they whine when games dont use it..

Yes. The first thing I thought was actually using a whip cracking motion too. It might be fun.

I don't think it would hurt the gameplay. I am not really a fan of the series. Castlevania is not the biggest franchise out there by a long shot. Their last few have been average at best.

It really depends how the motion controls are implemented. I keep going back to it, but the Wii version of Godfather has phenomenal motion controls. If they could do the same thing on an actual decent Wii game I would be all over it.

I liked Castlevania back in the SNES days, but the series is old and stale now. Motion controls could be a way of bringing it back.
I'd run it on the same engine that the newer Prince of Persia games run on. Simple but effective graphics, nice animation and a decent 3D viewpoint. Add in vampires, gothic architecture and good controls... man I'm almost drooling here.

A cross between Tomb Raider and Resi would be nice.

guilty as charged. first thing I thought was using the remote as a whip.

Of course, in retrospect, that could get tiring about 30-50 times per screen. But I'd have arm muscles like Hercules after one gaming session. Combine Castlevania with the balance board and get a complete workout Laughing

I do hope that Castlevania does come to the Wii though. I haven't played a castlevania game since the one on N64
