Square Enix has released eight new screens from 360 title Infinite Undiscovery, a game that we bet was named by a couple of Japanese guys picking two English words they liked and stringing them together.
The game is being developed by Tri-Ace, which previously made the Star Ocean series and Valkyrie Profile.
Infinite Undiscovery is said to contain ten years worth of ideas from programmer Yoshiharu Gotanda that could only be achieved with current-generation technology.
Looking at the screenshots (below), there's a bunch of kids dressed up in medieval armour, a nice-looking woman, a freckled-faced girl and a couple of fights jam packed with statistics and targeting circles. All seems fairly familiar to us.
Now, I want a good non-linear (or at least one that doesn't FEEL linear) JRPG. I considered Lost Odyssey, but the demo had set paths you couldn't stray from and I don't like having my hand held like that. This one is next on my watch list.
But why must it always be KIDS? I'm sick of this whole child hero b******s. Japanese people in any other culture would be considered paedos. Oh, I got bullied and now I have a sword and oops I'm a f*cking hero.
It's not just that they're kids though. I mean Link has been a kid a load of times and Zelda games are always good. But the voices that they give them are always annoying arrogant little American brats who I want to punch.
Damn, this looks pretty good. Always enjoyed Star Ocean.
Fingers crossed for a PS3 release!
I understand the point made above though, the tried and tested formula of a kid with previously undiscovered great power going on a journey of discovery into his angst ridden personality. Would be much more interesting if the hero was an overweight middle-aged guy going through a mid-life crisis or something not really done before
Yeah I heard that too, never played it myself though. I have loads of JRPGs though so has to be something special to be worth getting it. Sigh, got me wanting it now.
Looks quite nice actually, but I usually hate the Jap "Epic" adventure games as they usually bore me s**tless, but as they've opted not to make this a turn based affair, it may well be worth a look!
