Microsoft is unhappy with the ability to find content on Xbox Live Marketplace, 360 product management director Aaron Greenberg has put on record.
"I think that we are not, I would say...happy with the ability to find and discover content as easily as we'd like for consumers to be able to do that," Greenberg, told MTV Multiplayer.
The feeling has caused the platform holder to start removing underperforming and poorly reviewed Xbox Live Arcade games from Marketplace.
"I think a lot of that is we built Xbox Live Marketplace for a few hundred items and now we have 17,000 items," said Greenberg. "We built a small store and we filled it with lots of lots of stuff. We're feeling some of these growing pains and [the new policy] is one of those tradeoffs we've had to make.
"Longer term, we're looking to make the ability to find content and organize the 17,000 pieces of content we have a lot better."
We've never had any problems. What's the plan then? A Giant, 720p spreadsheet?
Never had much of a problem myself although it's good to hear they are always trying to evolve. Rather than removing stuff, why not make a top 10 list for most downloaded Arcade games? That way we don't have to search through all the crap to find the gems.
Everything seems cleary marked out, etc. One area that can do with reworking is the game add-on section, it seems to be tucked away. Plus I suppose it can get abit crowded when you delve deeper and deeper into the options.
Maybe add a search bar/function? Plus, being able to delete multiple files at a time would help for the HDD too!

Why not re-organise it then or add a search function? Something like that. Im sorry but im dead against removing games from being accessable. to whoever may want to try them. & I for one have never found a problem looking for new stuff or finding a game I want.
We are screwed if MS ever get their way with Digital distribution. They'll have a s**tload more content then & if they follow this trend, they can just go & delete loads of games every month or what? Imagine if a game like ICO ended up on there. Poor sales so it gets removed. A classic would be lost forever. Digital Distribution is supposed to give us access to all games all the time.

Hear hear! Digital distribution puts far too much control in the hands of self-interested first parties to detriment of the consumer and, it would seem, the developers of content also.
For example there is no evidence that DRM has significantly reduced piracy, but it has led to law suits, angry customers and some high profile musicians even going so far as to release their music through non-traditional means. What has reduced internet piracy isn't DRM, its the music industry finally providing consumers with legitimate and affordable options for downloading music.
In the end, by removing content, Microsoft are effectively going against one of the first rules of commerce; providing the consumer with choice. Enhancing the systems by which consumers search for what they want should be the only priority. What they find when they get there - and whether they choose to buy it - should be solely the choice of the consumer.
What if someone had downloaded and paid for one of the games. Would it still be accessible to them? Would they get a refund?
I know that some games are just terrible, but I'm sure someone would like them, and what if the game comes out at the same time as another blockbuster (like GTA4?) then the game will instantly be off to a poor start in the tables, and might get forgotten about, then removed.
How about less crappy old films in SD, and more new ones in HD? And more HD movie trailers would be nice too. Also when are we getting TV shows over here?
The ability to search would definately be handy, but I think it's organised fairly well at the moment, so I'm not sure what their bleeting on about to be quite frank!
as soon as an item or vid is more than a few weeks old it gets chucked into this massive pile. sifting through this section is a royal pain in the bottom cause theres like nearly 3 years worth of crap in there, and theres no way of telling wether this stuff is from last week or 2 years ago.
maybe the cookie system could work in the same way as a forum does. ie. subfolders with unviewed content glows orange until you've clicked them or acknowleged it by tapping LB on it...
or maybe even recognising what games you have played and highlighting new vids or content to go with them.
MS. give me a job an i'll have it sorted in a jiffy
i dont really have a problem with marketplace at all..every day i have a scan at new arrivals,if there is game in that list i am interested in i will look to see what the new content is..and go from there
checking on major nelson and inside xbox as well helps
and sorry to bring this up,but the PSN store for me is still pretty bad at being able to find things..they should have an alphabetical thing....not 'racing games' 'shooting games' or 'action games'...what the hell is that?,imagine looking for example GTA content..it could come under all 3 of those!!
I'd rather they leave the content alone rather than remove games and items I may wish to download one day. I never had a single problem finding what I was looking for and would rather have a big choice over what I download than a half empty store like Psn, although I must admit in recent months Psn has got a lot better than it used to be.
