Despite dismissing reports earlier this morning, EA has confirmed to CVG that the PlayStation 3 version of Red Alert 3 has been put on hold.
An EA spokesperson told CVG that, "development of the PlayStation 3 version of Red Alert 3 is on hold" and that "EA LA was focusing resources on developing for the PC and Xbox 360, for release this Autumn."
The rumours were sparked earlier this week when a walkthrough trailer for the game only listed the title as coming to Xbox 360 and PC. But EA dismissed it as "rumour and speculation" this morning.
No previous EA RTS game (Battle for Middle-Earth, C&C3) has made it beyond PC and Xbox 360.
Red Alert 3 is the first game in the sub-series since Yuri's Revenge in 2001. We highly recommend checking out its game information page and taking a look at the gameplay trailer - its nostalgia crack.
An RTS on the PS3 could be the start of something really special, as long as they remember to code in support for USB mice and keyboards.
Then again, by the time you'd gone out and actually bought the peripherals, upgraded the hard-drive and set aside an area to use a mouse+keyboard comfortably, you might as well be using a PC anyway.

Makes sense. They have experience with 360 and PC, and none with PS3 so getting it out for those 2 first would mean it would be a lot quicker. Hopefully this means extra content for the PS3 version though.
You know, if you bait the fanboys too much you become really quite good at it. This, in turn, makes you a Master Baiter. Something to think about there!

so you're telling me that C&C 3 wasn't on the PS3?
another uninformed opinion. are you perchance a PS3 f***yboy?
I think C&C games are at home on PC anyhow I never got to grips with these style games on pads (maybe I just didn't like them enough to give them a fair try) But may take a look as I'm a little older now and didn't try C&C since ps1 days. Wow before vibrating pads and analogue sticks makes me feel old.
WTF? This thread is too polite so I'll take it on the planned path.
PS3s cell processor is WAAAY to powerful for simple mortals to program for. Just wait until Killzone 2 beeeyatches. Oh and by the way the NEXT GEN doesn't start until MGS drops on us! Who the hell wants this game anyway? If I want it I'll get it for my PC which can run Crysis in six open windows at once! I have a friend who works for MS and he says they are about to discontinue the 360 altogether!
360 strikes again! You can't stop it now and it will soon overtake the Wii! PS3 is good for nothing but Blu Ray and I heard MGS makes it lock up and nobody on earth can repair it once that happens! This game is going to be SIC on the 360. Oh and that RROD stuff is just made up propaganda from the Sony fanboys. I have 200 friends who all have 360s and NONE have RRODed on them!
Is there any chance you're a PC fanboy? The PS3 version shouldbe just the same, and maybe EA will include extra content for the delay.
I would think if the "delay" had any positive reason EA would state that. It's pretty common knowledge and even fanboys have some strange pride in the fact that the PS3 is harder to develope for. Why would you include extra content on a console with a smaller install base as well as being difficult to work with? The old saying "you can hope in one hand and s**t in the other and see which one fills up first" seems to apply here. I'll bet it is canned for good.
The amount of games this is happening to on PS3 and everyone is just goin on like nothings happened! If this was happening on the 360 it would be like the "last nail in the coffin" It bugs me the way people (and some mags) go on about the 360, think it was gamesTM (which seems to be a bit biased towards PS3 in my point of view) a couple of issues back slating the 360 saying it "peeked" too soon just because it had a fantastic line up last year. Oh and I have both a PS3 and 360 if anyone thinks im being biased.
..... Anyway, buy this game on PC because your kidding yourself playing RTS's on consoles anyway.

Oblivion had extra content for the PS3, and that was released after the PC and Xbox. So its happened before with a smaller install base getting extra content which other formats have to pay for
