EA has unveiled the brand new expansion pack for The Sims 2, entitled Apartment Life.
The add-on takes the Sims out of the suburbs and puts them into a busy apartment building. New character types fill the assortment of coffee shops and playgrounds that surround your flat.
You can 'choose' from five new buildings that range from converted lofts to roomy and posh studios or luxury apartments that come with a butler.
This ticks us off, because it sounds like Sims across the world will be able to get a vastly better flat than the majority of Londoner's, including us.
We can barely afford a bedsit. You don't see that on the possibility on the list, now do you?
all these expansions only to start from scratch with sims 3 as there's no way in hell EA will put all the expansion content into the vanilla game when it's released.
8 full expansions and 9 "stuff" packs (for the Sims 2) - I'm sure it's more for the original. They couldn't fit that on a vanilla disc And they wouldn't anyway, because how else would they make money?
So this expansion... Does it feature thin walls and have neighbours banging on them when your little Sims play loud music or get busy? Or do they have stalkers outside the apartment with cameras and stuff? Because that would be funny
it is absolutely pathetic and disgraceful how these c**ts constantly rip off the dumbasses of the gaming community. its the only way they can make money. its a good job theres so many morons in britain otherwise EA would be on its last legs... Im completely against the pirating of pc games, but for the love of god, if you must have the crappy sims, GO TO THE PIRATE BAY!! DO NOT BUY IT!!

Morons? hah.
Has it ever occurred to you that these "dumbasses" actually enjoy the Sims 2? Has it ever occured to you that they don't mind, and maybe I'm pushing the boat out here, but they WANT to buy these expansion packs? The gaming audience for the Sims could be said to be far more mature than that for others, so maybe you should consider that these "morons" have jobs and 19.99 isn't a major blow to the bank. Also, they might just have morales, meaning pirate bay isn't an option.
My GF is an avid sims fan and is stoked about the new expansion, apparently it feels very much like the last one before sims 3 in that they have put in a lot of things the community has been asking for for many years.
I don't like the game personally, but why is someone who spends a lot of time gaming not a gamer? because they play different games to you? Cos they only play 1 game, what about WOW players?
I think the sims does it's thing very well and is a well made piece of software. According to the missus, where some expansions in the original sims were light on content, apparently every one for the sims 2's been a winner.
The sims also has an active on line community, I'd suggest that attacks on a well made hugely popular game because of it's theme make gamers look as narrow minded and stupid as Jack Thompson
I think it gets a hard time because it doesn't have an actual point to it. Your character lives, works and dies, then their children do the same thing, then their children do the same thing. You can intersperse it with going to a diner or something, but it's pretty much the same stuff.
I guess it's like <shudder> reality TV. People seem to think that watching people doing nothing is more interesting than finding something to do themselves.

I don't think anyone's attacking the game because of it's 'theme'. It's EAs cynical cash-in pack every few months that people take issue with.

Metacritic disagrees.
That's not to take anything away from people who play and enjoy the Sims, it's just that half the stuff in the expansion packs should be there from day 1. Let's be honest, it's really just a licence to print money......
has it occurred to anyone that the sims 2 is meant for teenagers not adults??? I personally love the sims 2... the point is you can be anyone you want to and if you want to marry Jonny Depp and have lots of babies it's actually a possibility... you can do things that are more then likely out of the question... try being a crippled kid and stuck at home all the time even for school... it's my way of living a different life and I don't care if I'm considered a gamer or not.
