Microsoft is expected to reveal a set of new Xbox 360 RPGs this evening, at a planned "RPG Premiere" press conference in Shibuya, Japan.
As it's taking place in Japan, by "this evening" we actually mean, "tomorrow morning" in UK time, but going by the name of the event we'd expect at least some new titles to be revealed - including maybe the next games from Blue Dragon studio Mistwalker.
At least two of the games showcased at the event are expected to be Square Enix's The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery. Hopefully, we'll also get a look at Mistwalker's long announced Cry On, which seems to have disappeared off the radar.
With the announcements the Xbox 360 should once again solidify itself as the current-gen console of choice for RPG fans. Bizarre, considering it's the only one of the big three not come from Japan...
The RPG's on the 360 are well up my street, you cant beat a good JRPG. Im still waiting on a top quality title for the PS3 only though and looks like FF13 will be the one but when that's out is anyones guess!
The more the merrier! I just love my rpg's and i am as surprised as yourselves that the 360 is the console of choice for rpg's. That's why i own one anyhow.
You see how pointless an article is about a forthcoming article? Are you guys just filling space or something?
I'd really like to pick up a decent JRPG, but there's 2 things I don't want. 1) Annoying arrogant kids as the main characters with the tired cliche stories of being outcast or bullied. 2) Totally linear paths with no ability to explore an area at all. I don't want complete free-roam, but Zelda games always managed to give the illusion without takign away from the story.
Don't mean to sound like a sour-puss but the RPG's that I have played on 360 have all been a little 'meh' for my liking. I was quite excited about playing Lost Odyssey but it turned out to be rather bland and boring.
I actually loved lost odyssey, personally i thought it was a bit of an old school classic. I know people who didn't like it though.
Blue dragon was a bit average it has to be said. Nice to see the 360 getting these jap type rpg's. It's certainly strange to see the 360 trouncing the ps3 and wii as far as these kind of games are concerned.
Infinite Undiscovery sounds pretty cool, but the voices in the trailers I've seen would drive me crazy within minutes.
There's a whole load of RPGs coming out for the 360 in the next year or so.
Alpha Protocol looks like it could walk the same RPG/action lines as Mass Effect, as does The Precursors. I'm hoping there's something on either or both of those. And Fallout 3 of course
If there ever was a genre that needed to take some serious risks, and do something a little different, it's the JRPG. It's a genre which in my opinion reached it's highest peak with 1995's Chronotrigger, and been struggling to get back up there ever since.

Don't even get me started on Blue wotsit.
Only Oblivion has impressed me so far.
You not played Mass Effect?
Yes, I own Mass Effect. Problem is I am getting more fun out of other games at the moment. It looks great and has an epic feel, but the mechanics seem a little awry to me, especially the shooting. PGR4 and GTA4 seem to be taking up my time. Well, until MGS4 comes out on thursday!
i have played and loved most RPG's on the 360(i was even part of the MMORPG final fantasy 11 on the 360)
lost odyssey, blue dragon, mass effect,oblivion..they have all be fantastic games finished them all as well, the only ones i couldnt get into which i was quite suprised at was Eternal Sonata and Enchanted Arm...maybe one day i will try them again
