DiCaprio to play Atari-creator in biopic

Titanic-man assumes the role of Nolan Bushnell
Leonardo DiCaprio has been signed up to play Atari-creator Nolan Bushnell in a biopic that the movie star will also produce.

The movie is currently without a director, but it will be written by Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman, according to Variety.

Bushnell has been targeted by various Hollywood studios over the years, but the two writers apparently were the only ones to convince him they could do his life justice.

Whether or not there's enough to say about a man who spends most of his early years behind a computer programming games, time will tell.

Why, has this man got an interesting life or sumink?

It's a reasonably interesting story.

Man steals idea for Spacewar, fails.

Same man steals idea for Pong, stars Atari, makes loads of money, gets successfully sued for patent infringement.

Man sells Atari to large media and entertainment conglomerate, gets kicked out of company one year later.

Man creates fast-food chain, contributes nothing of further significant interest to mankind.

Hmmm. Maybe not that interesting, then.

Er, Atari pioneered the home video games console.

Yeah, but who are they getting to play him after he turns 12? Confused

Er, Atari pioneered the home video games console.

They were one of the pioneers. The Odyssey, from Magnavox was actually the world's first home video games console. In fact, it was Magnavox who successfully sued Atari, for stealing the idea for Pong.

It was 'Chuck-e-Cheese', I'm not sure if it ever made it out of the US. You hear a few references to it every now and again in older American t.v. shows and movies.

I could be wrong, but didn't he also have a lot to do with the New York Cosmos? - the US football team that managed to lure Pele, Beckenbauer etc.....that's a really interesting story in itself!

Smile

I lived in the states for three years, that's where I heard about "Chuck-e-cheese", all my friends with young kids went there, it's quite an achievement that it's still going too, as the American Arcade scene has died out completely (except for Dave and Busters, which is soooo sweat, booze and games is my Nirvana Very Happy ).
Check out Blind Ferret's PvP cartoon on Xbox Live, they have a great parody of it, where the team go for Brent's B'day party. Wink
