EA says it's "working around the clock" to fix the many errors that plagued the new Battlefield: Bad Company demo this weekend, having just sorted out the broken ranking system.
Virtual warmongers were left disappointed when the demo was hit with laggy servers and a completely broken ranking system as player rushed to get their team-based battling on.
The good news is the ranking should be up and running now. "The stats database has been reinforced and you should now see the correct stats both in-game and on the website," said developer DICE, confirming that it'll also release a patch tomorrow to further secure your hard-earned stats.
"We've noticed that EU players sometimes end up on North American east coast servers and vice versa," said Dice, which has been causing the painful lag in servers, but that'll be fixed tomorrow, too.
"We've increased the number of servers to cater for an amazing 50,000 players."
So, all should be better. But if you're getting freeze issues when logging in, EA wants you to shout about it here. Nice to know you're being listened to, isn't it?
btw think this game is very very good, wasn't really expecting much but have played the demo more than COD4 over the weekend (even with double xp on COD4).
Good to hear that it is going to be fixed, i was beginning to think the lag was the way the game was and not down to server problems. Looking forward to playing in a game that runs smoothly.
i did had 1 laggy session, the ranking for your friends takes a while to update, also my own kills and deaths doesn't show while im comparing to my friends.
I'm getting a bit tired of this half bottomd approach that games companies seem to be adopting these days. EA have no excuse in this instance, they have just had a whopping beta test for petes' sake!
Yep, and that's even after they ran a multiplayer beta! I can only hope they're also working flat out to have patches ready for the main game - as soon as it's released.
BBC makes a refreshing change after months of COD4. Well, it does on the odd occasion when the demo isn't insanely laggy. Lot's of fun for snipers, and uncontrollable helicopters, but it's well worth a look for COD4 fans as long as they fix the lag.
Oh, and the melee attack is shizzle too, but that might also be the crippling lag. Surely a company as massive as EA can afford to set up more servers than they think they'll need just to be on the safe side? Ultimately, more people will buy your game, 'cause if the multiplayer game is like steering the titanic, a lot of people will stick to COD4 instead.
I'm playing on ps3 so didn't have any lag or problems, but that aside anyhow this is a great game. A game that has managed to take me away from COD4 and I have to admit I think I enjoy it more, the multiplayer maps are massive so your not so caged in, it has vehicles, destructable envorioments I love it, i'm addicted and thats just the 1 map, 1 game-type demo!
Lag not putting me and friends off this, what is putting us off is the idea that gamers are only allowed to play with 3 friends !! I play as part of a regular team of 5 and as much as I love this game, the 4-man squad cap sucks!!!
am loving this on my PS 3 no lag, super smooth and already at the highest demo rank (corporal).
Artillery is fantastic fun to use...the only thing I dislike so far are the terrible helicopter handling...it's just not fun, most people who use them end up just crashing and dieing.
Also hate the damn teamkillers...it needs an autokick/ban feature after 2-3+ teamkills in a game.

Awaits reviews
I agree with all that, also at rank 4 on PS3. Managed to keep heli in the air for a good 5 minutes last night tho, think with a bit more practice will be better.
Def need tk bans tho, usually people who want the artillery to themselves and will tk to get it
It's laggy, very laggy. Plus as trivial as it sounds I'm grated that theres no way to go prone... Controls feel clunky and sluggish...
Was excited but not quite my sort of game...though I do like the destructable areas it still lacks that certain BANG factor for my personal tastes...Still hopefully people will like the game.

Feel free to add me as a pal (Gunzberg on EU PSN), always happy to be a heli gunner

Some prat did that to me yesterday so i spent the rest of the game following him and then ending him. Probably the most immature thing to do but he deserved it.
Other than that i have really been enjoying it, although i agree with the others that have said that the single player seemed poor.
