As if we weren't confused enough about what's going on with the now-mysterious Splinter Cell Conviction, various websites are starting to report that Sam Fisher's lost his voice.
And by that we mean Michael Ironside, cult actor and Splinter Cell series mainstay, who is now rumoured to have lost his gig as the voice of Ubisoft's stealth hero.
According to Sarcastic Gamer, who've supposedly heard the rumour themselves from various "people", Ubisoft has quietly axed Ironside from his role in 360-exclusive Conviction and even he himself doesn't know it yet.
We've contacted Ubisoft UK who've been quick to say nothing on the report, but we for one would be a bit gutted if Ironside parted ways with Fisher. Can you imagine the outcry if Solid Snake lost his distinctive grunt?
Far from confirmed, but lets' hope this one's nothing more than internet chatter.
he's done such a good job so far, and its become such an important part of the character, i honestly cant see myself buying a new spinter cell game if Michael Ironside isn't providing the voice.
and if they ever make a movie, he has to be in that too.
This is bad, for Ubisoft's sake I hope they haven't decided to axe Michael Ironside. Ironside is Sam Fisher. No Ironside, no Fisher.
I know it's just the voice and alot of applaud has to go to the script writers for writing some great material. However it is Ironside who carries it off so superbly especially in Chaos Theory. The way he carries off the sarcastic remarks and Fisher's dark sense of humour is what lends the game and the character that bit more of an edge. It shows what kind of a man Fisher is, especially since we have little insight into his life beforehand during the games, what we do know is how hard his life has been and how Fisher has coped with it comes across in that delievery of dark humour.
Whats bulls**t about this being a 360 exlusive? Ever since it's announcement at X06 by Microsoft (when it was still called 'Splinter Cell 5') it has been a 360 exclusive.

I think he thought you meant bulls**t as in lies, rather than bulls**t as in 'what a s**tty situation'...
